Question Yogurt Question

Hi Everyone!

What kind of yogurt is allowed on SB? I was comparing yesterday and the nonfat, plain yogurt had more sugars and calories than Dannon Light 'N Fit (which I LOVE). The L 'N Fit is sweetened with Splenda...is that ok? I didn't see why it wouldn't be legal. Thanks!

How do the fat, carbs & fiber content compare in these two?...you gotta watch that as well.

If your looking for the best SBD friendly yogurt?...it's Light 'N Fit CARB & SUGAR control. (and it's yummy too!) This yogurt is better than the regular L'N'F because it has less sugar, carbs and has added fiber as well....big BONUS!!!

For one cup =

Dannon L 'N F
Fat = 0
Cals = 120
Fiber = 0
Sugars = 16
Protein = 8
Carbs = 21

Non-fat Plain Yogurt
Fat = 0
Cals = 130
Fiber = 0
Sugars = 18
Protein = 12
Carbs = 18

Does the difference in sugar and carbs balance out?

I've never seen the L 'N Fit Carb and sugar control...I probably haven't looked actually. Thanks for the tip!

I forgot how much sugar is in that 'regular light' stuff....lol

The carb & sugar control brand has only 2g. of sugar and 3 carbs....if you can find this, I'd say it's worth it!

(tastes better than the regular LNF too...it's creamier..mmmm)

I'd make sure to get some fiber with the yogurt you have...some nuts or something...I've also taken some fiber one before (I call it the twigs & sticks cereal, lol) and crunched that up and mixed it in w/my yogurt to get some fiber with it...and it's quite yummy this way too...try that...it will help with all that sugar you got in there.

I am confused why anyone would eat the nonfat plain yogurt if it has 18 grams of sugar in it, doesn't that defeat the purpose? I never realized that it had sugar. Especially if the diet requires 2 cups a day.

I am confused now! Do we have to drink/eat the dairy requirements each day or can we skip it?

Dannon Light 'N Fit is sweetned with Splenda...I'm not sure about the Plain yogurt. It was just regular non-fat plain yogurt. Why is this recommended if there is so much sugar in it? I know some of the sugars are from lactose which is in dairy products...is that why it's acceptable?

A lot of times the 'non-fat' product contain more sugar than the 'low-fat'...they take all the fat out of the product, and then add sugar to make it taste better. It really depends on the brand you get. That's why reading labels is SO important...what ever brand you got seems to have added sugar to make up for the non-fat. Check out other brands...some are way better than others. As far as getting the recommended dairy...I'm probably the worst, so don't take my advise on that one, but I highly suggest taking a multivitamin, even if you ARE getting your recommended portions. I take a women's daily mulitvitamin, calcium & fish oil pill every morning.

I think I'll finish the container that I have and then search for that Light 'N Fit you recommened...that seems like a much better option. I've been eating the yogurt with walnuts and only in about 1/2 cup increments, usually only once a day, so hopefully that won't affect me too much. I've been eating it with a meal, not as a snack so it's accompanied by protein as well...kind of as my "dessert".

You've been doing fine if it's your dessert. Along with food, even that sugar content shouldn't have hurt ya. Keep up the great work..I'm seing more and more of you around here. Great to have ya about!
