| I would like some clarification on some of the foods that are allowed on Phase One. 1. Beans and Legumes: They are listed as allowable but can you really have more than a 1/2 to a 1/3 a cup a day? 2. Peanut Butter. What role does peanut butter, the kind where it is just peanuts, play in the daily food allowance? Is it supposed to be used as a snack? 3. The veggies burgers that are available where I live list wheat as an ingredient but the carbs are still very low. Are they still allowed on phase one, and if not is there a brand that does not contain wheat? Are the morningstar farms products phase one compatible? Thanks for the help Andrea | ||||||||||

| I am fairly new here also, so I am not sure I can answer your questions accurately. I just wanted to say good luck! | ||||||||||

2. PB is part of the nuts/seed allowance. You get a serving of either whole nuts, PB, or seeds like flaxmeal or some combination thereof of partial servings to make a whole serving if that makes sense. You could have 8 almonds and a tablespoon of PB; or 15 almonds; or 2 tablespoons of PB, and so forth. good as snacks since the fats help provide satiety. I'd probably still combine with some veggies or protein just for a little more volume. 3. Technically no wheat allowed even in veggie burgers. I don't know of others and don't know the morningstar line well enough to answer your question. If that is all you can find and you are vegetarian or vegan then that is probably the best you can do! Do you eat any fish if not land based animals? What about tofu? Or other non-grain based meatless products? | |||||||||||

| Thanks RedRox for the answers to my questions. Now I think I finally understand the PB and Beans part of it. Yes, I do eat fish and chicken but not a lot of red meat. I like some of the vegie meat products and they are mentioned in the book so I thought it would be a nice variation. I will have to see if the ones mentioned in the SB diet book actually contain any wheat by checking their websites. Thanks again Andrea | ||||||||||

| We used to like the Dr. Praeger's california veggie burgers when our costco used to carry them. But I just checked their website and even those have oat bran in them to help bind them. But when you get to P2, if you can find those, I thought they were a bit "purer" product than the Boca, Morningstar lines. They actually taste like veggies (which is a good thing IMO!) and just seemed "fresher" tasting to me for some reason. http://www.drpraegers.com/products/p...&Category_ID=9 But any of them will work in P2. I don't know that I would count the amount of grains in them used to help bind them as a full serving of grains but at least the grain portion is allowed. | |||||||||||
