Why not? Are they sugar-coated? If they are plain pistachios (and yes, we can have pistachios in Phase 1) I wouldn't worry about the label. This is not supposed to be a low-carb diet. Just be sure they are plain, count out 30, and enjoy them.

nope they arent sugar coated
but they are salted.

i figured as much, but isnt the whole point of phase 1 to get rid of the carb intake totally?

nope! that's why dairy (milk and yogurt, certain types) and beans/legumes are on the P1 food list too. all veggies are basically "carbs" as well so that is your other P1 food that you eat a lot of that contains carbs. Homemade chili with a side salad is usually a great P1 meal for instance, but fairly "high carb" to someone trying to go low carb (LC). This isn't as much a low carb plan as a "good carb" plan. I can constuct a P1 menu according to the meal models and food lists that can easily get you to about 80+ carbs a day. Far more than any true LC plan would ever recommend. We discriminate between healthy and unhealthy carb sources, not eliminate them altogether. Ketosis is NOT the goal on P1 of SBD. Be sure to review the meal models, food lists and the book again for core principles to be sure you are eating a good P1 meal plan.

What was the ingredients in the pistachios? Still seems like a high carb count for nuts. (not that we count them, but only as a potential indicator that something else might be added to them besides nuts and salt.)
