Default Quick Start Questions

I have decided to come back to SBD and commit myself fully this time. My weight loss will be a marathon not a sprint so I need to stop expecting quick fix results. Anyhow, I have a couple of questions that I cannot remember about that I thought someone here may have the answers to:

1. Is there a specific type and brand of beans that are recommended or best? I know ones without sugar added but are there any recommendations?

2. Are there any Progresso soups that are legal for P1?

3. What kind of nuts are legal in P1?

Thanks in advance,
Kelly

1. nope. no particular brands of beans. Any brand should work fine. Even those with small amounts of sugars added for preservatives should be fine if rinsed first, which is a really good idea as it also helps reduce gassiness. The P1 food list will have a complete list of the allowed types. About the only type not allowed that I can think of are refried beans made with lard or sat. fats, but that's because of the fats used, not the beans. Fat free refried beans are fine.

2. You'd have to read the ingredients to be sure, but as a general statement without seeing any specific ingredients list, I would say, "I strongly doubt it." You can however make lots of SB friendly soups, stews and chillis on your own.

3. Pretty much all of them. 1 oz or approx. 1/4 cup is a serving size. The food list sticky thread will have a more specific list and equivalent approximations in terms of the # of nuts allowed. Remember that peanut butter (2 tbslp allowance) should just have peanuts and salt in the ingredients list and also counts against your nut/seed serving.
