Default non scale victory! movie with no popcorn

just got back from the theater with the family. We made it without popcorn. I didn't realize that we had let popcorn become a STAPLE of us going to the movies.
I missed it but I did it. Today is day six for me and i felt strong enough to face the very real temptation. My husband had asked me to go to the movies on day two and i just said "no." Isn't that wild? That food can be that powerful?
My week two starts tomorrow and I'm anxious to see if cravings continue to decrease. I still miss my fruit (mandarins are in season), but i'm trusting that the insulin retooling or whatever the purpose of phase 1 is will be worth it.

Thanks for listening

Congrats on your nsv that is awesome! It really is hard to turn down that popcorn and you did fantastic! Old habits die hard and it looks like you are on your way in kicking the bad habits to the curb!

Default thanks! (and chicken broth question)

Last time I was on weightwatchers i ate so much popcorn...and i didn't reach my goal. It is probably a trigger food for me. I each too much of it (even the smart pop kind).
Do you know anything about chicken broth on South Beach? I was going to make some mushroom / kale soup. I'm on Phase 1.

I think basic chicken broth is okay. I use the fat free, low sodium chicken broth.

Default thanks--i'm going to try to back off the crystal light

a little. I've been incredibly thirsty on South Beach. In particular, i like to dress up my water a little--but i don't want to be ingesting THAT much artificial sweetner a day. I think a nice brothy soup will be a great sipping substitute.

p.s. why "painted bliss?" I like the unique sound of it.

The name of my american paint mare (horse). I show and trail ride her and she's my baby. I felt pure bliss when I found her. I bought her 4 years ago when she was 4 months old and we have a special bond.
We have a farm named painted acres where we raise and breed paint and quarter horses

Default i should have known

I grew up riding/training/showing and breeding AQHA. If there is a horse person in the house--i find em! It has been 20 years since I've had the opportunity to be a horse owner however (funds do not permit).

When i was young, one of my competitors was a girl named Shannon who rode a FANTASTIC paint horse named: Painted Shadow. Of course your name made me think of her.

Thanks for sharing your story. Sounds beautiful. I certainly miss it.

I was brought up around horses by my grandparents in the south. We moved to the east when I was 14 and though I was always crazy about them they fell out of my life. I married a great guy who was brought up in the city, had 3 daughters and he encouraged riding lessons, taking me to shows ect. He is basically a non horse person but understands my passion. We finally bought our farm 10 years ago. We have 7 horses, 2 stud quarterhorses, 1 stud paint and four mares. We kinda fell into the breeding 5 years ago when some friends had to sell their studs due to finances and they have produced some gorgeous babies in our area that are now showing in the circuit. Right now we are just breeding 3 of our mares. Bliss(also known as sweetheart) is my show prospect. Our youngest stud colt (2.5 years) cowboy is red dun 90% foundation quarter horse we halter show for right now til his training is complete. He is a pure baby doll.
Maybe someday horses can come back to you, the passion never leaves.
