| Hello all- I am new and have read DR A's books. I am a bit disappointed in that my weight seems to be going upward. I am eating a "clean PH1" and I was wondering if anyone else had this exp? Thanks!! ![]() | ||||||||||

| can you post a sample day or two of food that you are eating? maybe an experienced south beach diet person will peruse those and chime in. i've been on south beach only 7 days so i'm not much help~~ but i gained a couple pounds back from my initial 5 pound drop so i'm curious about any answers you get thanks stick with it i do know people who have lost on south beach!! | |||||||||||

| Hiya KSE: Today I had the following. B-Fast: 2 scram eggs w/ raw peppers & 1/4 cup cheese S: Spinach dip w/ celery L: Panera greek salad w/ chicken S: A peice of hamburger pie (legal made w/ mock hamburger) D: Veggie Burger-Morningstar Farms w/ Cott chese & raw peppers S: WIll have cheese stk or another veg burg w/ some veggies Will also have ricottta dessert later ![]() ** I have exerciesed all three days and had 8 glasses of water. One aggrivating thing is that when I tried SB abotu 1 yr ago after 9 days I gained a solid 4.5 lbs then just got off it:Problem: and gave up. Thanks! | ||||||||||

| Hi SB Southerner: ![]() My experience was this: I lost three pounds in three days. Gained a pound, then lost two. Gained a pound. Gained a pound. (This was when I was weighing myself every day.) I got so frustrated with the scale! I got lots of advice to stay off the scales every day. So, I swore not to get on them until the end of Phase 1. Over the two weeks I lost 6 pounds. My food is posted in my blog if you'd care to look. I think salt plays a big part. Anything prepared by someone else has lots of salt (in my experience). Also I think it's imperative to get lots and lots of veggies. And lots of water. I have decided that I will only get on the scales every other week. They are just too discouraging for me. I look for other pluses, like when my rings are looser or my pants are not as tight, or my belly feels smaller. When I feel like it's working, I am much more able to continue. There are thousands, probably millions, who have lost weight and kept it off eating this way (even if they all don't call it SB). I'm not that unique. I'll lose it too as long as I stick to it. | I agree with jilly. Don't put such a mindset on the scale every day. Make sure you are drinking water and it's enough. A good rule of thumb told to my by a nutritionist I work with is your present weight/2 =oz of water per day to be drank for hydration.. | |||||||||||

| menu looks pretty good really. maybe watch the amount of fats in things like cheese. make sure they are all 6 gms or less of fat per ounce. the veggie burger might well have had some grains in it for filler and binding purposes. the spinach dip might not have been fully beachy if not homemade, but those are pretty minor quibbles. Are you a vegetarian as well? What about some beans/legumes or dairy like allowed types of milk and yogurt? Are you approaching TOM? Most women gain during that time as well. Seems strange to me really. I'd just say stay with it and see how it goes. | |||||||||||
