| I am on Day 5. My running must be adjusting to a lower carb intake (my whole diet was nothing but fruit and carbs prior to P1!) and I was able to do a 3 miler today (I usually do 6) with little to no problems. I have to say that I had a sugar craving bigtime last night. I recognized it though and filled up on other things instead. I tried to figure out what triggered the craving and I realized it was my chewable vitamin C that I take every night! I read the ingriedients and the first thing it said was HFCS! Ack!!!! Really...I know its mostly water weight but I'll take what I can get! I am not significantly overweight. Only looking to lose 15 lbs total but KEEP it off. I am just astonished to continually see the scale going down every day. (yes, I'm scale obsessive and was last year too when I lost 30 lbs). All I have to say is that this WOE works and I'm so glad I found my way back to the beach! | |||||||||||

| i am a runner. i've run for years--currently I'm a low mileage level--10 or 12 miles a week. i'm a newbie to south beach--i just started the program in November. I too like the quick results! I lost 7 lbs in phase one. The other huge advantage to South Beach is the fact that it RULES out so many snacks by mere virtue that so many snacks are sugar or white flour based. It just decreases my options for adding too many calories through out the day. ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/showthread.php?t=2305 I'm nearing the six week point and I'd say that my energy levels are much more consistent than they used to be during the day. I am glad to be rid of the highs and lows. It is not an easy way of eating for me this time of year especially. The results are worth it though.. I'm forty one and have noticed a huge change in the last four years that weight simply doesn't come off as easily as it once did. how did you lose your 30 lbs last year? | |||||||||||

| I lost my 30 lbs last year on SBD. It came off in 4 months. I averaged about 2 lbs per week, however, last July we moved into a new house and with the 2 little girls I have I got sloppy with my food choices and really fell off the wagon hard. I realized it was a problem when I trained for and ran the Philly Half Marathon almost a month ago. I was doing 12 milers on the weekends and I only lost 4 lbs the whole 3 months of training. So I knew it was my sugar intake. Carbs I did mostly eat whole grains but I'd top it off with a box of sugar babies before bed every night! I'd justify my actions by thinking..."hey, I just burned 1200 calories this morning". Well, it didn't quite work that way. So I gained 15 of the 30 lbs that I lost back again. Now I'm back on the beach to try to lose those pesky 15 and get my sugar cravings under control. | |||||||||||
