| Is this even possible? I am 3 days into SBD. First off, these were the three hardest deays of my life but I am sooo proud of myself. Ive made a weeks worth of turkey meatloaf and veggie chili. I go to school at night and dont have time to prepare dinner before hand. I weighed myself a day before I started, and got on the scale today, just to see what was up. It was 5lbs less. I dont get it? Even my daughter (whos 8) says I look thinner. If it keeps up like this, Im on a roll!!! (mmmm rolls sound so good right now, Lol) I also had a question about the cravings....once my body withdraws, these cravings will stop I hope, right? Im really not dreading this diet as much as I thought. Every recipe Ive made is good and fills me up. Well, this is my first post, and I hope not my last. I am excited to see what this phase of my life brings me! | ||||||||||

| :Welcome: NY Mama!! Sounds like you are doing awesome! How much and how fast you lose in the first several days and weeks is very closely linked (in my opinion) to how much you need to lose. In the beginning the weight comes off very quickly and will taper off and be VERY slow when we get close to what we are meant to weigh for "our" optimum health. It's very individual. And I bet it is noticable already! Good for you! As for the cravings - Phase 1 is all about getting rid of the cravings. Stick with it. They will go away (if they haven't already by the time you read this). Good luck to you! | |||||||||||

| Thanks so much! I know I definitely have alot to lose. In the past year I have put on a considerable amount of weight. Ive also notcied my hands were starting to swell, the Dr put me on diuertics. Im hoping that all this water weight goes with it. My cholesterol was CRAZY. That was a big factor on why I need to lose this weight. Both of my parents have diabetes and heart disease. So I know its only meant to be if I stayed on that track. Thanks so much for your kind words. The cravings are actually sooo much better. Im not craving a HUGE burrito from Taco Bell anymore! I told myself when I get to my goal, I can have one, then thats it. Im excited to be doing this and changing my life for myself, my husband, and my kids. :Jump Rope: | ||||||||||

| Good job so far! A lot of the early weight loss is just water weight from depleting glycogen stores in the body which releases stored water along with it. Doesn't really matter though as long as it helps motivate you! And doing this for health reasons really helps too I think. It's great for reducing blood glucose levels and improving cholesterol numbers. And it's a great eating program for the whole family. My kids are much better off now than before we started this program as well. (Not that they were overweight at all, but they understand good nutrition a lot better now and make better choices and I feel confident that I have given them a good knowledge base to work with as they continue through their lives after we stop making their meals!) ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/south-beach-diet-forums-phase-1/2354-3-days-lost-5-lbs.html And I smiled about the taco bell idea. I promised myself a philly cheesesteak when I got to goal. By the time I got there, I was too worried about what all that fat and refined carbs would do to my system afterwards and didn't really want to chance it. So I still have never had it (2.5 years later), but I know if I want it I can have one! Hope you enjoy yours though! I didn't say that to discourage you at all! Just be aware that sometimes the process changes our perspectives! Best wishes on your journey and your new life! | |||||||||||
