| Hi all, New plankton here!!! I have a question about drinking protein shakes... I have a juicer and have been making fresh fruit juice every morning and adding unflavored protein powder. Since I need to stay off the fruits during phase 1 I am trying to figure out how or what I can use to add the protein too. I do workout using Power 90 so I want to keep up with the shakes. Any idea's or suggestions would be great. Thanks everyone!!! FM | |||||||||||

| Hello there new plankton! Tee hee! Here's a recipe for an almond energy blast and you could probably add your protein powder to it. http://sbdbb.com/showthread.php?t=13...d+energy+blast I would use skim milk and a flavored sugar free syrup. Or I'd use water, sugar free kool aid and some sweetener in the place of the juice. There's also sugar free Tang or the Crystal Light drinks. The Crystal Light that comes in the bottles is sweetened with Splenda. We're having one heck of a storm here so I'm going to shut down my pc for now. If I think of anything else I'll come back and let you know. | |||||||||||

| I was just on the SBD site and they do not recommend using protein powders on The South Beach Diet. They say that the whole food is always the best choice. Now according to them, these types of powders can be a diet buster and are best if not used when following a weight-loss plan. So, that's the word from SB and I just thoguht I'd make you aware of their stance on the protein shakes. Now, what you do with that information is up to you. You might want to hold off on them or use up what you've already got and then quit. Listen to your body. If they start causing you problems, you'd better quit them ...... or I'll come and give you that hiney kicking you asked for in your other post! :Hinney: | |||||||||||

| HAHAHA :Whip: ouch!! Ok good to know about the protein shake thing. HMMM what to do. I have a tub and half left and another full tub that I havent opened yet. I didnt know it was that bad. Since I was lifting I wanted to get more protein in. I think I will stay off it for the first 2 weeks while I clean out my systems and maybe finish the one that's already open. I will have to find someone who would want the unopened tub. Thanks for the update luv2bike!!! :Biker: | |||||||||||

| Wow that's interesting Luv! Do they happen to say why they don't recommend them? :Sad2: The one I use is sugar free and fairly low calorie (2 scoops is 120 cals, i usually only use one). I can make smoothies without it but I like how thick the powder makes them, alsmost like a shake. Guess I could also use soy milk tofu for that too, it'll just be a bit thinner. Interesting. | ||||||||||
