What's in it? SB is often more about the ingredients than the nutritional panel info. Sugars from allowed sources are fine and are present in many SB friendly foods like milk, yogurt, tomatoes, onions, and so forth. I would guess it is fine and the sugars are from natural sources in the ingredients themselves. Plus the acids in the vinegar are a kind of "sugar stopper" that slows the rate of absorption of any sugars present. And even salad dressings allow for up to 3 gms of sugars whether naturally present in the ingredients or added. So it really depends on the food and the ingredients. Most hot sauces and salsas are usually fine as is though as long as there are no added sugars in the ingredients list.

Thank you for your reply I really appreciate it! The hot sauce ingredients are chili peppers, distilled vinegar, sugar, spices and xanthan gum. Does this mean I can't have it??

I went back to look at the "Seasonings and Condiments" section of the P1 foods to enjoy list. (It's a sticky topic here! )

Here is what is says:

Quote:
Use the following toppings and sauces sparingly (check labels for added sugar and MSG)

Hot Sauce
It only has 1 gm of sugar, and you likely don't use very much of it anyway. And like I said the acidic nature of the vinegar will be somewhat of a "sugar stopper" as well. I really wouldn't worry about it unless you start drinking the bottle!!
