| Hi there.... I'm on Day 10 of Phase 1. Let me tell you a few things about it. 1) I've never had so much energy in my life. It seems like everyone around me says "I need a Coke for energy". "MMM, maybe that chocolate fudge brownie will give me the kick I need." Well, guess what?? No amount of sugar has ever given me the CLEAN energy that I have now. My boyfriend is the worst. He lives on coffee and junkfood, but amazingly has a gorgeous body for being 46. I cannot change him, but I can change me. 2) Shopping at the grocery store is SO MUCH EASIER on Phase 1. All you need to hit are Produce, Meat and Diary. Period. Now it sounds like you have a family maybe, so I can see how that would make one feel like it's a harder thing to do, but trust me, it's worth it. I live alone, so I do have an advantage on the shopping part of it. 3) I'm not really a sedentary person, but I definitely, until now, have not had a regular exercise routine. Now that I have so much more desire to MOVE, it's easier for me to MAKE the time to exercise. Every day I wake up, looking forward to my bikeride, walk/run, or today, I'm going rollerskating! (I also have to walk up 2 flights of steps every time I come home, so that has gotten a LOT easier.) 4) If you have been overweight for most of your life like I have, I know that you are excited about the prospect of slimming down. My enthusiasm in the beginning was HIGH...and still is. But as I have read, the second week is a little tougher. I can't explain why, but maybe I just need to buy a larger variety of veggies...ones I haven't had before. You WILL be challenged by this, but once your cravings for sugary/starchy foods is gone (and they WILL go away if you follow the program), it's much easier to stick to. 5) In my experience, it's really taking an overhaul of my thinking to change this into a new lifestyle. Everything about my schedule is the same...same job, same hobbies, same everything. Eating is something we have to do, no matter what. I'm finding that my rising confidence in myself is spilling into other areas, which is so rewarding. When my regular customers say "Amy, you are shrinking!" *(remember, I'm only on day 10....lots of water is being flushed), it makes me want to stick to it. ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/south-beach-diet-forums-phase-1/5654-phase-1-dieters-support-thread.html I hope these ideas will help you get excited about doing this. Since it's not a severe kind of lifestyle change (like surgery is), it will take time. But the way I figure, I'm trying to correct decades of poor eating and exercise. I will not lose my goal of 75 pounds overnight. The success stories in the book are vital to helping one believe that they, too, can do it. Amy | ||||||||||

| Hey all!! This is my 3rd and final attempt! Three years ago I lost over 70 pounds and felt great. I am 5'6 and currently weight 157 pounds. I have put on about 10 pounds in the past year. Divorce will do that to ya I guess! : I need motivation. Today I am on day 3 and I caved with Twizzler NIBS! I had a major sugar crash. Portion control is my biggest thing. I need some ideas on that. I tend to have breakfast my biggest meal because I am busy through the day. I tend to have a serving of almonds as my am snack because they are quick and easy...After that is all down hill.... I look forward to talking to everyone and sharing ideas! Courtney | ||||||||||

| My biggest issues are support, portions, and motivation. I lost 70 pounds on SB three years ago, so I know I can do it! I only need to loose 30 more and I am good! I tend to eat bigger portions. This has always been an issue for me. I try to have breakfast my biggest meal of the day. I usually have an omlette with 1 egg and 2 egg whites with 2% Kraft Singles, and some veggies. This is around 0800 I have to make myself eat my mid morning snack, and are usually an ounce of smoked almonds. Usually around 1000 Lunch varies. Normally I have a meat (try to hit 3 ounces) and salad with light Ranch dressing (serving size). I have tomatoes, cucumbers on my salad. Between 1130-1230 Afternoon snack is the hardest. It is close to dinner and most times I feel so full. We cook at the house almost every single night. I usually make a meat (try to get 3-4 ounces), salad, veggie, and a bean. Is this too much.?? Dinner is usually between 1800 and 1930. ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/showthread.php?t=5654 Then after dinner...I want sweets! I want to snack. This is where I cave in!!! HELP! | ||||||||||
