Thumbs down Carb/sugar cravings in WEEK 2?!

I did fine in week one as far as being able to pass up the carbs and sugar relatively easily. But the past two days have been CRAZY! I'm on day 8 (yesterday) and day 9 (today). I *think* I've been following it pretty religiously, but am I doing something wrong? The cravings have been nuts! I went to the store today and stared longingly at everything I couldn't have - ended up getting a little sf pudding cup - that hit the spot.

Last week, as long as I didn't let myself get hungry, cravings weren't a problem. Is it just "that time" in my individual cycle that I'm dealing with the hard cravings?

Advice please!!

Not sure if it is time of month cravings you are talking about in your individual cycle or just within your cycle of your sbd journey. Understand that the "cravings" that SB helps with are those that are food based from eating higher GI foods that cause blood sugar spikes, an insulin response to metabolize it, and then a blood sugar drop that sends body signals for more food to help bring the blood sugars back up. It does little to help with emotional, mental or even hormonal "wants". We often need to develop other coping strategies along the way to deal with these kinds of situations. Best you can do is to keep eating all your meals and snacks (eating something every 2-3 hours), get in your good fats and lean proteins and high volumes of veggies and some amount of beans which help with satiety, and use your sweet treats strategically to help get through the tough moments. BTW, the sf pudding is only allowed in P2 and only the kind you make yourself from a powder. But don't worry about it, just keep going! Have you tried a no sugar added fudge pop yet or were those not available at the time?

Default Dammit!

I didn't know the sf pudding wasn't allowed until phase 2! I also messed up a couple of days ago - added butternut squash to my roasted veggies. Then realized it was nearly as high GI as potatoes. :P Not worth getting too upset about, I realize, but it's FRUSTRATING!

As far as cycle, I meant SB cycle, but who knows? Could be the other kind, too.

I've had the sf fudge pops before - I like them... but why would they be ok in phase 1 and not sf pudding? I don't get it.

BTW, those wicked hard cravings passed after a couple of days. But today, I was listening to an audio book called "The End of Overeating" (recently published), and he was talking about how people describe the treats they can't seem to resist. That was a big sensory hit, just thinking about it. Good thing I was in the car and not my kitchen! (I'd like to think I would have resisted anyway.)

Well glad you worked through them. Not sure what the difference is. The ingredients in the fudge pops aren't all the great either IMO, but I know the pudding uses high GI starches as thickeners so that is the reason they aren't allowed in P1. But jello is fine because the gelatin itself is the thickener and that is OK as well. I'm guessing that the fudge pops mostly use freezing for the thickening!
