Unhappy No weight loss...:(

I am so glad I found this board. Ok, I started SB 8 days ago and was really gung ho, and went out and bought all the right kinds of foods. I have been really good, I haven't touched any bread, fruits, pasta, or anything else on the restricted diet. I had lost 3 lbs in the first 4 days and now I get on the scale after the weekend and gained everything back. Granted, it was Easter weekend but I swear I didn't touch any candy, we had turkey, salad, and asparagus for dinner, and when everyone else was eating chocolate cake after dinner I was eating sugar free jello (that cake was soooo tempting). I have been exercising regularly-about 45 min 4x a week.

I am just so frustrating because I have been following everything to a tee. Now another setback. I thought this diet would finally be the one to get those last 15-20 lbs off.

THe only thing I can think off is I started my period(early, ughh), but I usually don't gain a lot of weight on my period. Some input, please.

Thanks for reading, denisek

Hey Denisek, Welcome to the board and congrat on starting SB. I know it may be discouraging but dont quit on yourself. If you started TOM early im sure the 3lbs that you lost and you currently see back on the scale is more than likely from that. Although you may have been eating strictly you do go up when TOM comes and since it came early maybe your seeing more than you normally see.

Its strange that you mention TOM coming early. Mine started early as well. Actually a week early. Its a bit weird since Im on the pill so I need to go get myself checked.

Anyway, how is your water intake? Dont forget to keep drinking your water. Im doing a extra week of Phase 1 so lets finish your last week together. You can do it. We are all here to help.

Im sure some more knowledgeable will come and post more information for you.

Funky!!!

Well, I think that's your answer right there! Our bodies change a lot when we modify our diet and start exercising regularly (which could also cause water-weight gain!). Take solace in the fact that its likely just water weight - it will go away!

Thumbs up no weight loss

thanks all for the encouragement...I'll give it a little more time. I think I will stay on phase 1 an extra week longer. I have just had so many problems getting over a stinking plateau and I finally got over it and then the weight came back. Let's try one more time. :0)

WOW, Does exercise really cause water weight gain? That's crazy ... does it last long? I mean is it a permanent thing or does your body eventually adapt?

Denisek - I am having almost exactly the same problem as you but unfortunately I don't have the TOM as a possible explination!!!! I'm a little frustrated, I do workout pretty hard so it may be because of that combined with a new eating arrangement.
Does anyone know if I should stick with phase 1 another week or if I should start the merge into phase 2 (I'm on day 11 of phase 1)?

Default no weight loss

I have actually cut my exercise regime down from 5 days a week, 1 hour long workouts to 4x a week, 45 minutes each. The longer workouts weren't getting me anywhere. I also put some variation in it as well. You keep doing the same thing over and over and i think your body gets used to it. My problem (among many) is that I am attatched to the scale-need to get rid of it and only weigh myself once a week.

Okay, so I haven't exactly been a regular exerciser in the past. I seem to go in spurts. But I always get a bump up on the scales when I start in again or change up my routine. I read somewhere that your muscles hold on to water to help repair themselves. I'm not sure how long this lasts though. I've also read that the best way to get rid of water weight is to drink more water.

Throw the scales out of the window! They're evil! There are many reasons not to trust them. A better way of gauging weight loss is by taking measurements and noticing the way your clothes fit.

Okay, this isn't very nice to discuss, I guess. But, I also need to ask you if you've been regular in the bathroom lately. I had problems with that when I first started and lost like 3 pounds after having a good bowel movement once! You'd be surprised.

I think I had heard that too about the muscles holding water to repair themselves but I wasnt sure if I made that up or if it was real!!
In response to the awkward question .... the first week was much better than this week ...not sure what the difference is, i've been squeeky clean as far as I know????

Hi Denisek! My name is Linda and I had the same thing happen to me. I have lost about 3 lbs, but once Aunt Flow came it went back up. Don't give up just yet silly girl! :Hug2:

I am in love with my scale as well. But, my clothes have also been fitting better too. I can even fit into a pair of pants that I used to not even be able to get on! Yeah baby! (Austin Powers)

If you decide to keep the scale, just keep in mind that measurements are ultimately the indicators of wieght loss.

We're in this together. :Hug1:
Linda
