Default Upcoming Holidays

I want to go back to Phase 1 and pretty much start from square one. Too much stress in the last 6 months and I have been eating off the program every weekend and imbibing at least 2 nights on the weekend. I have not gained all my weight back but still need to lose another 10 lbs. My concern is if I waited until January that is a lot of time to go astray but not sure how to get through Thanksgiving and Christmas and my birthday is in January and all the holiday parties. I think once I get going I will be focused. Feedback/comments please!!

No time like the present! At least if you get into P1 a bit before T-Day it might help keep you more focused and your off plan treats on that day to a more manageable minimum and then just back into after that. The holidays and holiday parties are there every year. It's often more about settling for a draw or minimizing losses than it is about winning each and every battle. Don't necessarily strive for perfection, but at least if you get into the swing of it now, you'll probably still be a whole lot better off than if you wait until January! It's more about making consistently good choices and even if your choices are for small amounts of off plan foods, at least they are conscious choices in the larger context of an overall direction and plan and not just mindless eating for the sake of eating whatever you want with the prospect of getting back into at some point in the future, which may or may not actually ever come about despite your current best intentions.

Thanks RedRox!

You always put everything into perspective and make it sound so easy I can't beat myself up too hard because I started SB last spring and lost 22 lbs over 3-4 months and did it fairly flawlessly. I did get my book out last night and realized if you are 10 lbs or less you can go straight into Phase 2 so I think that is what I will do. I have been letting family issues get to me lately, but like you said no time like the present. I remember when I was doing SB very diligently, stresses seemed to be less stressful because I was eating properly and I also keep forgetting on Phase 2 you can have SB friendly desserts and a glass of wine with dinner. Thanks again!!

Well I tend to think it is somewhat simple, but not necessarily easy! If making fundamental lifestyle changes were easy, we wouldn't all struggle with "eating right and moving more" quite so much I think and we'd have a generally thinner and healthier population! I just think it's "easy" to wait for that perfect time for a lot of things and that perfect time never really rolls around and something always seems to come up in the meantime. Sometimes starting is the hardest part to get right!
