Sure!
Muscle weighs more than fat, but is denser (smaller) so if you are working out heavily you may be building muscle while losing fat.
A good way to check this is to find a body fat % device and track that. It means you are more healthy!
The pounds will come off eventually though, best of luck. I've been where you are (began going to the gym and gained 15 pounds over a 2 week period with no added food intake) and it is frustrating. Just keep pushing, something's gotta give.
yes! There are many, many measures of success and progress. The scale is just the easiest, but not really a very good one IMO. Remember that scales weigh everything, not just fat. Fat loss and weight loss are really two different things. You can lose fat and inches and gain muscle and not lose much total weight at all for just one example.
