Avoid Products with High Fructose Corn Syrup

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One of our members "Sadie" found this website that lists a bunch of US products that contain High Fructose Corn Syrup. For those of you unfamiliar with this ingredient which is widely used in foods, It dangerously raises your tryglycerides just like trans fats and contributes to obesity. Those of us on South Beach avoid this ingredient in our foods. Dr. Agatston also states that it is an ingredient to be avoided. Here's the list -- which is not inclusive, but you'll find MANY familiar foods on it:

Unhappy Miracle Whip

I just looked at the list of foods with corn-syrup and was sad to find miracle whip on the list! Any suggestions of another product to use to replace this one? I love to make tuna salad and egg salad with miracle whip fat free.

There's an organic canola mayo made by Spectrum that has the same type of tang that miracle whip has. Maybe just a tad milder tasting but you can jazz it up by adding a touch of vinegar or lemon juice. I think it's great just as it is!

Spectrum used to only be available in health food stores like Whole Foods but now even my local grocery chain carries it. It's worth a try!!!!:sun:

For your first taste, buy the whole fat version and if you like that, then try the "light" version. Just remember to use a max of one tablespoon per serving of the whle fat version, and 2 tablespoons of the light version.

Let me know if you try it!
