Question Newbie needs some help P-L-E-A-S-E!!!!

:Bang: Hi. My DH and I are on day four of phase one. I have been very faithful to only eat allowed foods  BUT, I have missed a snack here and there due to work. I read that headaches are common and they will go away, and I did go back to having 3-4 cups of coffee (caffinated) a day and they went away. My question is.............Is it normal to feel so tired? I am really tired since starting on Sout Beach. I work at Starbucks so I was use to drinking unlimited amounts of coffee everyday that I worked, but I don't know if thats the reason or if this is a "normal" get use to a healthier way of eating side effect. I also pretty much pigged out the week before (I know, pretty stupid of me, but it was sooooooooooooooo good!:speechless: ) Please let me know if this is normal. I greatly appreciate any and all advice. Blessings~ Linder

Yeap, I would think the lowering of carbs and eliminating of coffee would probable cause you to be tired. I do believe that your energy level will kick up to high soon. Hang in there.:speechless:

you were going through caffeine withdrawl and sugar withdrawl at the same time. Caffeine withdrawl is exhausting for a few days and sugar withdrawl makes you feel a bit icky. You would probably have a better time of it if you did kick caffeine and maybe now that you know that's a normal response you can try again? That only lasts a few agonizing days. SB Phase 1 without caffeine withdrawl is not so quite dramatic.

But if you were having such a bad reaction, you might think about what a hold this has over you and how your body and blood sugar levels are being forced to pump up and then drop real low!

Hang in there!!

StarbucksMom!

Please, please stick out the first 14 days of phase one to get detoxed and on your way to healthier eating. It is normal to feel tired in the beginning, but it shouldn't last very long. And things get much better once you hit phase two.

I've also made a post as to what drinks from Starbucks that we can have on this plan and an update on caffeine limits. It's in the kitchen forum. I prefer decaf myself, but it might help your energy level if you slowly ween yourself off of the caffeine. I know it's a drag to be dragging around all day. :Hug2:

Default tired?

I think you also want to keep your water intake up during this phase since you tend to dehydrate. That may be the reason for being so tired......up the water and see if it helps.

I was thinking the same thing about water. I've read that, in Phase 1, some people feel tired, lousy, & fatigued because of the water weight lost. Drinking more fluids helps.

I love Starbucks, but I think their caffeine amounts are really high. I heard that there's more caffeine in some of their decafs than there is in other places' regular coffee. A friend of mine feels like he's had regular coffee after he drinks the decaf.

I weaned myself off something like 8 cups a day by slowly adding more & more hot water to my cups. For me, I now have much more energy, and less craving & hunger.

For my starbucks fix I do a Venti Decaf Nonfat Sugar-free Vanilla Latte, iced because it is 90 degrees here. It gives me my coffee fix, but doesn't ruin the diet!
