| My husband and I are going start this plan, and I am very excited about it. He, on the other hand is the pickiest eater I have ever met. AND stubborn. I have never seen him eat an egg, in any way shape or form in 10 years of marriage and although he is open to the idea of starting SBD, he absolutely refuses to eat eggs with this plan. I was searching and didn't see anyone else who doesn't like or won't eat eggs or egg substitute. What can I do? I need an alternative to eating eggs, especially during Phase one. Help please! thanks | ||||||||||

| Wow, Albertson just had them 18 count for $1. so I bought lots. I don't know what I would do without eggs. Humm, I would think out of the box. What does he like thats on the acceptable list. Maybe we could come up with something. I am so glad my husband will eat anything I put in front of him, sometimes I get "THE LOOK" but mostly he eats it. | ||||||||||

| That's a new one on me! I don't know of anyone who doesn't like eggs. I've heard of people getting tired of them after awhile, but never someone not liking them at all. Dessertthorn is right. You're going to have to be creative with breakfast and maybe not have traditional breakfast items for the 2 weeks of phase one. Will he eat plain low fat yogurt or smoothies for breakfast? Maybe leftovers from the night before? Maybe meat and cheese roll ups? I wish you and your dear hubby lots of luck and much success on the beach! | |||||||||||

| Hey just wondering...what kind of smoothies are possible to make in phase 1? I thought only the plain yogurt was allowed? Is there anything else you add to a smoothie allowed in phase one to give the yogurt more taste? I'm getting used to and may actually come to like the plain but would be thrilled to find a variation or two to get me through the next week. | ||||||||||

Here's a recipe for something called an Almond Energy Blast for phase one that can be had for breakfast. http://www.sbdbb.com/showthread.php?t=134 I've also used dry Crystal Light drink mix to flavor my smoothies with. I like the pink lemonade and pineapple orange flavors. I've even mixed them into my ricotta desserts. | |||||||||||

| I'm not a big egg fan, myself. There are so many things you can do with them, though. There are Phase 1 recipes for crepes, pancakes, cakes, etc, etc. Or you can make up good things with hard cheese, ricotta, cottage cheese. There's a mock oatmeal recipe somewhere, using ricotta. I've gotten used to eating leftovers too. Look around at all the different recipes, and I bet you'll come up with ideas. Sometimes the initial change is the hardest part, & then you get used to new things. ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/south-beach-diet-forums-phase-1/838-there-anyone-else-who-hates-eggs.html For yogurt, there are all different flavors of extracts in the spice section that you can use with a little splenda. You can mix sugar-free jello or some pudding in. Now I like fixing up my own plain much better than the lite, pre- flavored yogurts. Once you start experimenting, I bet you'll come up with all different ideas. You can come up with different ideas for smoothies, too. You can mix yogurt, (soy)milk, unsweetened cocoa powder, splenda, vanilla, & other flavorings for a chocolate smoothie. You could add ricotta or nuts or....almost anything! Once you try a recipe or 2 you can vary it. Would you share your ideas with us, too? Last edited by nancy; 06-03-2006 at 01:55 PM. | ||||||||||

| well you do not have to eat eggs directly when I like is, beat an egg lightly, then add about 1 cup of milk and some sugar (use no calorie sweetener), mix well, then bake it for 20 minutes (this is king of a Chinese dessert) | |||||||||||

| At what temp do you bake it, Kat? Can it be done in the microwave? Do you ever add anything else? Does it come out like a custard? Inquiring minds want to know..... | ||||||||||

| :Morning: Hi, I'm back. I want to thank you all for your suggestions, but I'm afraid none of those will work for him! And he can't stand ricotta cheese either. I am going to check out the phase 1 recipes that Nancy suggested for pancakes..?! Really?? I didn't know. Where would I find that one? In any case, I have decided that I'm going to go ahead and begin without him. At least he will benefit later when I begin the phase two cooking, meals which I plan on making for the entire family. ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/showthread.php?t=838 I wish I could say I'm starting TODAY but since we are having company this weekend, one of whom just happens to be a super good cook and loooves to make us very yummy (and fattening) dishes when they visit...*sigh* Monday! Definately Monday!! I have only 20 pounds to loose but they are the same 20 I've been struggling with for the last 20 years. I'll keep you guys up to date with my progress. I look forward to loosing with you! PS. Aren't these smilies the cutest?? :Whip: I'll be using this one a lot. LOL Last edited by dawn-in-tahoe; 06-15-2006 at 09:01 AM. | ||||||||||
