| I have been weighing myself and I am moving at a slow pace as far as my weight, but I can really see the difference in my stomach area. How is it that the size shrinks but not the numbers on the scale? :Read: | ||||||||||

| Muscle weighs more then fat. You must be building lean muscle mass which will slim you and the reason the scale hasn't moved is because of the muscle gain. Your doing awesome!! Don't worry about the scale, in the long run muscle burns more calories which will mean loss in weight in time. Keep up the good work!!

| Have you been exercising? I've posted this before but I think it makes a good visual of what they've told you about muscle and fat. This is 5 pounds of muscle compared to 5 pounds of fat. They both actually weigh the same but look at the difference in size. And Speedy is right. The more muscle you have ........ the more calories you'll burn, the more calories you burn ...... the more weight you'll lose. Also when you step on the scales you're also weighing the liquid you've drank and the food you've eaten. There are various reasons for us to retain water weight, especially if you're woman. Muscles retain water to repair themselves after a work out. TOM causes water retention. And this is a delicate subject but I once lost weight after a bowel movement. Sorry, I hope that's not TMI (too much information). ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/south-beach-diet-forums-phase-1/842-how-can-you-lose-inches-without-losing-weight.html It says in the book that you will lose belly fat first with this way of eating. Hang in there and you'll see results! | |||||||||||

| Hello all, yes muscle does weigh more than fat, however it takes a long time to put on muscle you don't put it on over night. It's alot harder to put on muscle than it is fat and even the fat you don't gain over night. The reason you look different is because you are loosing water weight, when you loose any amount of water it makes you look thinner and does not always show up on the scale. A good healthy weight loss is 1/2-2lbs per week anything more than that is water loss and it will come right back as soon as you eat bad carbs. ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/showthread.php?t=842 So even though your weightloss is slow, just be thankful the scale is dropping and not gaining pounds. Also don't go so much by the scale go by the way your clothes fit. As women our weight fluctuates dramtically with the time of month, medications, hormones you name it. So keep up the good work the weight will come off!! | ||||||||||
