Default Bored with Phase 1 menu

Well, I blew this week. I haven't really gained any of the weight back, but I know that I have to get back on track. So, Monday, June 19 I'm going back to Phase 1 for at least 2 weeks. Usually, I have yogurt for breakfast, a salad for lunch, and stir fried veggies for dinner. I also have a stick cheese and usually a sugar free jello or peanuts for my two snacks. I'm looking forward to going back to Phase 1, so that I can get rid of these cravings; however, I think I am getting a little bored with my menu for Phase 1. Any ideas or variations? Going back to Phase 1 with these things that I'm used to eating requires a little more will power than I think I have, right now. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks- Brandi

Hey Brandi you can check out my thread brownie's thread and look at my menu maybe you will like some of that stuff and eat it.

It takes a lot of preparation to make good healthy food that tastes good but it's so worth it.

Try making enough to last you for a couple of days. I usually cut up all my veges as soon as I buy them and put them in ziplock bags so they are ready for the entire week.

Veges and hummus are delicious!!

Thank you. I will check it out and see what I can find. I'm just getting "burnt out" on the Phase 1 foods and I am really trying to stay focused. Thanks again.

I love Phase 1 foods. I feel like I can stay on this Phase forever!!

I eat tons of vetables usually broccoli, asparagus, onion, salsa stir fryed in a pan with 1 tsp of olive oil. I put a whole bunch of this in a big pan and make enough to last a few days. I eat 1 cup of veges for breakfast, 2 cups for lunch and 2 for dinner. It really helps you stay full and keeps your regular.

Brandi,

I hope you know that if you're not really physically craving, it's actually advised NOT to go back to Phase 1. They've found people are more successful if they stay in Phase 2 instead. And if you are having physical cravings, it's better to do Phase 1 for 2 or 3 days, long enough that the cravings are gone, instead of for 2 whole weeks.

The usual day you describe isn't really the SBD. For example, what about your required amount veggies with each meal, protein with each meal, and good oils? You might want to review the Meal Model Stickies at the top of the phases for your guidelines. What you describe does sound pretty boring. I wouldn't stay on that (and I would be too hungry, too).

It really helps to have variety. We dieters tend to start eating the same things and then we get bored. There are great recipes in the books and on this site. When I get burned out on the foods, more variety and also doing a recipe or 2 really makes the food exciting and interesting again.

Hope this might help. Hang in there.

Yea, Phase 1 foods are okay. I looked at your thread and I guess I discovered why I am bored. I guess I'm a little picky. I don't like Ricotta or Cottage cheese. I don't like asparagus and I'm not big on celery, either. I don't know what Hummus or Tilapia are? I've seen Hummus in the grocery store, but what is it made out of? Just curious. Also, what do you mean by salsa stir fried? Is it just like salsa that you would use with tortillas? Anyhow, thanks for the help and wish me luck. Monday morning it's "hardcore Phase 1" for me. I've got to get back to where I enjoy this diet so that I can go on and lose my last 40 lbs.
Thanks again- Brandi

Hi Nancy- thanks. I don't guess I am physically craving sugar or sweets... I just have been having them lately. It does make sense that it would not be required to go back on Phase 1 for the whole 2 weeks. I was just hoping that maybe that would get me back in the right mind frame to continue SBD. I don't really think that I've been getting hungry, either with the foods I have been eating... just bored, I guess. I guess I will go back to the book and start reading it again. It can't hurt to freshen up on the guidelines and such. I will have to try one or two of the recipes, also. I reviewed Brownie's Thread, like she suggested and I guess I am a little picky. There are several things that I don't eat. Thanks for the advice. I still plan to go on Phase 1 starting Monday. I guess I will just see how it goes and "play it by ear".

I get like that too, Brandi.

I can be groovin' along for awhile, following things without much effort at all. Then I lose that groove & can't get back into it.

Sometimes I'm bored, sometimes something else is bothering me that I'm not dealing with. Sometimes I need to face more some reasons that I'm scared to lose more weight.

Every once and awhile, I seem to need to add something new to re-motivate myself. It might be to change something with my exercise, or add a new short-term goal. Sometimes it helps me to splurge on a fruit or veggie that I love, but don't usually buy because it's so expensive. Then I get out of the deprived place. Sometimes I need to do something different that doesn't have much to do with the SBD way of living.

There are so many different foods, you don't have to eat anything you don't like. Just have something equivalent. You can mix and match and make up your own menus. Ricotta and cottage can be put in a food processor as part of a recipe and you wouldn't know they were in there.

I don't usually want to take the time or trouble to do a recipe, but when I do, it really helps to find out different foods I like, too.

It helps me too, to re-motivate myself when I read part of the book again.

Hi Brai, Glad you found us and joined.
Hummus isn't for picky eaters I don't think, its a dip made from ground chick peas, garlic etc. I don't know what Talapia is/are? either.
What foods do you like and crave, maybe we could come up with something youll just love. :wink2:

Hey- you guys are great! Thanks for all your help! I did have a pretty bad week, last week and I think that affected my dieting. I was doing so well, staying on track and doing pilates every day. I definitely know that I need to get back on track and I know I have what it takes. So, I'm staying positive about it. I didn't even think about putting the cheeses into a processor. That is a really good idea. Well, I love cheese. Just about every kind. I also love meat... but, I live at home. It's just me and my mom and she's a vegetarian (ugh). So, even though I started doing some of the cooking a long time ago, I really never got into the practice of cooking meats. I (honestly) just made real hamburgers, for the first time, by myself, this year. I always knew how to do it, but never actually did until a few months ago. So, I think if I could find and make some kinds of meats that are easy and can be portioned for one, I could probably add a little (new) variation to mydinners, which are usually vegetables or chili. I am certainly open to suggestions, which is why I asked what hummus and Talapia are. I will try anything once. I may even try (really, really hard) to acquire a taste for cottage cheese. I used to like it, when I was younger.

So, that's kinda where I'm at. Thanks again.
