| Generally, Salads (toss bacon bits, croutons, etc), check ingredients & amount sugar in dressings. Grilled chicken breasts (Toss the white bun, no ketchup. Mustard, mayo, pickles, lettuce, tomato etc. fine.) A small Wendy's chili, occasionally, (with a salad) is OK. There may be alot more details in the new dining out guide book. Do your best to also carry along SBD-friendly foods. (They're usually much better anyway.) | ||||||||||

| I would prefer to carry along but I find with them not being baked snacks that they need to be refrigerated. Do you have any recommendations. What comes to mind is jarred mushrooms which seems to be the only food I keep at my job at my desk instead of the fridge. | ||||||||||

| I find it really easy to throw some things into a soft, zip-top cooler with some gel cold-packs. They have shoulder handles & are easy & light to carry. I can throw some bottles of cold water in too. For non-fridge...dry roasted soy nuts or edamame (1/4 cup serving) baggie, some cut-up raw veggies or a salad w/dressing on the bottom would last out of fridge for most of a day, wouldn't they? I happen to like canned green beans. I know there're alot of other possibilities for Phase 1. (I'm not very creative today.) I like your idea of jarred veggies too. ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/south-beach-diet-forums-phase-1/973-drive-thru-options.html Going into a grocery store, they usually have pre-washed veggies or salad, small cottage cheeses (I carry some cinnamon & Splenda to add), separate low-fat string cheeses. Those pre-washed sugar snap peas in a small package are great. P.S. Oh, yes...and don't forget pre-counted nuts. Last edited by nancy; 07-01-2006 at 02:56 PM. | ||||||||||

| Cottage cheese with cinnamon & Splenda? :Love3: I think that will be great! Im making a list from this thread because these are great ideas. Going to pick up one of those zip cooler bags. Im a baggie freak - love the disposable aspect and will toss anything but straight liquid in them. Plus doing it in advance is great portion control. :Hug1: I dont know that I'd have made it this far without the board. You guys have been awesome with guidance and ideas! | ||||||||||

| How much cinnamon and splenda do you put in there? I just bought a little container of cottage cheese, but the only way i ever ate this is with Triskit (spelling?) crackers... so obviously thats out of the question! Anyone have any suggestions on what else to put into cottage cheese, or if anyone can give me an idea on how much cinnamon/splenda is allowed in there to give it some flavor! Thank you! | ||||||||||

| For my taste, about 2 to 4 packets Splenda and shake a sprinkling of cinnamon over the top before mixing it in. Just to your taste. Also good is some cut-up cucumbers. A friend likes cut fresh tomatoes & a sprinkling of something like Mrs. Dash. Last edited by nancy; 08-08-2006 at 12:56 PM. | ||||||||||
