| I bought the blue South Beach Diet book online, and I have a huge question...I am trying to follow the recommendations for the menu's and it says to have yogurt and berries for breakfast.....an egg for snack....etc....so that's what I had......and OMG the cravings the rest of the day were unbelievable.....I overate....nothing op....but still overate......I'm wondering why the book doesn't follow the meal template? Is there an updated book or something? And then an egg for snack!! That's it? :Bang: Am I just being weird, or does anyone else think it's kinda strange?!!

No, you're NOT being weird! I don't actually know how much the books have been updated in the newer editions. Does it say anything in the front or covers about being updated or revised? Mine was printed in 2003. The guidelines are altered as research studies get new findings. I do think the blue book is essential for the basic principles. Those basic principles still absolutely apply. The official website updates, and internet boards like this one usually have the latest changes. I think it's safest to follow guidelines on the internet (or a newly published SBD book). Some new findings can have happened by the time any book goes to press. Since things change, I wouldn't go strictly by the book's menus and guidelines. Keep yourself updated through the internet. Read around, including all the stickies. Most all of us have had the same questions. As far as your cravings, they now say, at least early in Phase 2, not to have fruit first thing in the morning, because it could lead to cravings. I still almost always have a protein, veggies, and oil ALONG WITH fruits or starches to prevent cravings. The safest snack includes a protein AND veggie. You're getting to know what works for you, and that's a key to this WOE. Good for you for handling the cravings OK! Keep asking whenever you have questions, Angie. | ||||||||||
