See sticky "Foods you reintroduce in Phase II" in this forum. That should answer it.

Default food in phase 2

Wow, There doesn't seem much left to eat. I'm about to finish phase one but I might do it for another week or two, but having read the "allowed" food, it doesn't really look very different from phase one.

Your missing the point if you think your being restricted from food after phase 1. This is not a diet in the sense that your never going to ever eat ice cream or a slice of pizza, this isnt Atkins.

Phase one is about losing your cravings for bad carbs, then you introduce back good carbs.

It's about eating healthy. Lots of veggies and fruits, whole grains...the food Your supposed to be eating!!

Only you can decide what foods make sense in your life. if you see yourself gaining weight then something went wrong. If your able to be the kind of person that eats a slice of pizza on Friday Nights and eat good outside of that and dont gain weight then awesome!.

Also try to remember the book tells us and has a chapter named "It's not what you eat, it's how you eat it" If you eat something high GI then you take something with alot of Fiber, or some fat or some protein...something to bind up the bad carbs...

google south beach recipes, there is an endless combination of great eating awaiting you.

P1 is the foundational plan for healthy eating and P2 adds back in the allowed fruits and starches on top of that foundation. This is the type of dietary program for life that gives our bodies and brains exactly what it needs to operate at high levels of efficiency.

IMO, there is little value in extending P1. As you say if you are just adding in one fruit or one starch serving at first, then there really isn't much difference anyway, so why not start that transition plan instead of postponing it longer?

If all the foods we ate before "worked" for optimal health, weight loss and weight managment then most of us wouldn't need to be re-trained to a healthy dietary program to begin with.

Thanks RedRox, I think that i feel safe on phase 1, but you are right, I need to bring back some things into my diet, especially fruit, I miss that a lot. At first I thought there wasn't much difference between phase1 and 2 but having read some more I realise there's a lot out there that can be eaten.

There is a HUGE difference in phase 1 and 2. Yes please introduce fruit back in your diet. I love apples, blueberries and just about all fruit.

AVOID pineapples and raisins though..wooo weeee they bad in the carbs.

by avoid i mean dont make it a habit, yes a piece or two wont kill you...i know if i find a piece on my slice of ham on Xmas day I will eat it..lol....with of course a handful of fiber pills..hehehehehe

Hi, No2Atkins, thanks for the encouragement. This is the very first time in my life I've followed any sort of diet and I'm quite enjoying watching what I eat but I do miss things, as I said fruit, but also the odd glass of red wine which I do plan to have this weekend. Life is too short to be suffering lol.
Agian thanks

indeed life is too short to suffer. Just make sure your around long enough on this planet to enjoy!

I like wine as well, it is very good for you also. One thing I wont ever give up though is beer. so..I have to work out and stay active to support some of my choices..lol....thats ok though..nothing beats pulling out the mountain bike and riding for a few hours....

SB is not about denying oneself, it's just eating healthy...I do miss some of the junk food, who doesnt? a bag of funyuns man..oh wow...haha...REAL ice cream..hehe...

a decent amount of will power has to be there for you to succeed in anything...esp this...so I and everyone else will most likely have to be very very careful, I am inclined to think some of us have a slight eating disorder to begin with..so with that, its best we stick to some kind of program..

i do take a deep breath and let out a little sigh when i see some of my "cant get fat no matter what" friends eating whatever they want...seems unfair..but thats life right? we were dealt this hand and we must play it out.
