Default how much calories shoudl you have in phase 2

I've heard you shouldn't have less that 1200 cal per day. However i0m following sb diet and it seems that i'm getting only 1000 cal per day.

What do you think? How many cals are you getting?

Honestly, I haven't tracked calories since starting SBD. If you're following the book's guidelines and some of the guidelines found here you'll definitely lose weight safely without feeling deprived. Don't forget the between meal snacks. I found them to be a tremendous help. Also, don't fret too much about weekly scale readings. Some weeks I'd show a 1-2 pound loss and other weeks barely any at all loss at all, and followed by another 1-2 pound loss. Just try to be consistent and patient with yourself. Easier said than done.

With out the carb calories I find myself doing the same thing, coming in under 1200 - often down closer to 800. The 1200 is more of a general concept that doesnt come from southbeach but as a minimum we shouldnt go below for the bodies functioning.

Without higher cal carbs and with much low cal veg - it can be an effort. I think occasional days under 1200 are okay but all in all we should strive for the minimum 1200.

One helpful thing is the healthy calories. The healthier higher cal foods is helpful for this , our daily serving of nuts and beans. Dairy too even if it is low fat.

I wouldn't know how much I'm getting. This is South Beach... and we don't count calories. We count serving sizes. It's about portion control and eating healthy carbs in healthy amounts. If you're eating enough, and you may not be even though you said you're following South Beach, you'd be getting enough calories... and certainly more than 1,000. How about posting an example of a day's Phase 2 meals? I bet something's missing. Be glad to help though.

"Without the carb calories"? How can it be without. You should be having, at the very least, 2 carb servings in Phase 2, or 3.

hmmm, I dunno.. I don't remember ever feeling like I wasn't having enough... that is IF I get my 2 servings of fruit and grains, enough veggies, and protein for the day... seems like I'd be having enough calories. Maybe I'm wrong. I know one thing for sure... I'm a lot thinner, and feel soooo much better.
