Default New here...check out my website

Hello everyone, my name is Christine. I'm a newby to South Beach. I started three weeks ago. So far, I have lost 12 pounds. If anyone can offer me some suggestions on how you maintain your willpower, I would appreciate it. I have been cheating a lot and almost totally fell off the wagon last week. I get back up in the morning thinking it's a new day and have my breakfast and lunch but by the time dinner rolls around, I seriously mess up. My goals for this month are no eating out and no regular soda. I also plan on making it a no spend month. I'm very much into frugal living.

I'm single, no kids, just my fur babies. I own my house in Kansas. I am disabled and work part time answering the phones at a hospital. I enjoy the outdoors but can't really enjoy it now because of my size - 292 last week. I am looking forward to being thin as it might get my health problem under control (cross your fingers), a could cut my own toe nails, do my own yard and house work, cross my legs, shop at regular stores/thrift stores/consignment (right now I have to buy from catalogs on the internet because I'm so big), go mountain biking and hiking. I enjoy crafts (xstitch, needlepoint, embordery, crochet, knitting, drawing, painting, pottery, scrapbooking, stained glass), movies, cooking, gardening, camping, hiking, biking, walking, water aerobics, weight lifting, frugal living forums and blogs and Dave Ramsey. I'm working on paying off the credit card, just $475 left to go.

Default Hey Chris

Welcome to the beach.....Will power is mind over matter, its whats important to you long term, so when the need to have a cookie or a soda kicks in just remind yourself of what your goals are and why you set them in the first place...Those of us that really want success will find the power to get it.....Just remember you can do anything you set your mind to do...Also remember Rome was not built in a day and your success will not be over night. we learn to crawl before we can walk, walk before we run, what I'm trying to say is if you start with small tiny goals you will be hiking up that mountian in no time.....I would start by taking your fur babies out for short walks even if its 10 mins...its better than just thinking about it...then add time on as you get better at it.... You have to start to be able to finish !!!!!!
Best of luck to you

French

Its great that you are here!! I dont know if you have read some of the other posts on the other threads, but some say to take out all the "bad" foods from your house and replace them with the "good" stuff. That may help with staying on the beach, also, if you can be very vigilant about the foods the first week or so, I found that I no longer had the urge to bail... my cravings were gone, yours may do that too!!
Good Luck!

Talking Hello misscas

to the boards Christine. You have already lost 12 pnds. Thats AWESOME! Hey about that cheating thing. I know its hard sometimes...But it does get better. The more you eat On plan the more you will get used to it. If you find yourself getting off track don't get discouraged...just make a u turn and get back on the plan. Since you live alone, have you tried just stocking up on SB friendly foods? If you don't have the illegal foods in your house then you wont find your self eating them. Also if you don't already have a copy of the phase 2 foods, it would be a good idea to print that and take it to the store with you. All phases are listed on this board. If you could just find another drink you like? Soft drinks...diet or not they have a lot of chemicals in them. I drink them but only occasionally. Water is always best, but if you feel that you just have to have something else maybe you could try crystal light or tea with sugar substitute Flavored green tea is nice too. Since you like the outdoors maybe you could start walking. You'd be surprised how good that is for you. Short walks are the best thing to get started and each day you could walk a little farther. Fall is just around the corner. Oh I love walking in the fall. By the way you have a nice little web site, I will be checking it often. Its great you are charting your progress. Good luck with everything and I look forward to seeing you around here.
