| I've been doing phase 2 for over a month, and I continue to eat being very aware of what I stick in my mouth. I haven't fallen off the bandwagon in the sense of eating off the list of "no-no" foods, but what I have done is had days of not eating enough (or in some cases not eating at all). Plenty of water - no food. I haven't felt like eating much at all since what has now officially been labeled as a gall bladder attack. I've been referred to a surgeon but haven't made the step to contact the Dr. yet. Probably because I'm worried about other stuff. ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/south-beach-diet-forums-phase-2/3895-continue-phase-1-awhile.html I know regularly eating is the basis of keeping a steady blood sugar (and yes I know the difference in my own body, I get to the point of being lethargic in mid day now). Do you think I will be able to pick up on full phase 2 daily eating without to much consequence or should I return to phase 1 to get used to eating like a normal human being again without the added carbs/fruits? | |||||||||||

You really do need to eat...I strongly urge you to eat even if its phase I. In time as you eat more, your appetite will return. I use phase 1.5 (+ 1 fruit)when I need to get my weight back down. You sound like you went into ketosis and that does kill the appetite. Hope this helps!

| Going ok. I have been avoiding the whole surgery for gall bladder concept and just trying to take it one day at a time. I have surgery tomorrow (thank god outpatient) for my other "issue" and I am hoping the results come back with clear margins and I can get on with my life and away from my little scare with the "c" word. Trying to be positive about it and about myself has been the hardest part. If nothing else I've learned that I do need to be concerned about "me". The food I eat, my overall health and as Red points out - mental focus and attitude. That's been the hardest part. Changing what I eat and changing how much I exercise seems like cakewalk compared to changing how I think. Never thought my journey would lead to a completely "new me". I'll keep ya'll posted. ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/showthread.php?t=3895 On the South Beach front though - today I hit 270 .... thats a big fat "ZERO" at the end of that number. One that I never thought I would see. At the theatre yesterday (its an old theatre - the seats are tiny) I commented to my hubby "Look - my ass fits!". Previously I had always felt like a chubby whale trying to wedge my butt into the wooden theatre seats. Yesterday I actually sat thru the show comfortably. Now if they only could figure a way to make it less like airline seating (knees crammed against the front wall of the mezzanine) then I'd be happy. But at least my butt was comfie instead of crammed. Yaaaa for South Beach!!! | |||||||||||

| Awesome news on the SB front! And I'll be praying for awesome news on the surgery front for you too. I agree, we do have to change lots of things besides the food. Attitude is crucial to success. Please, be sure to keep us posted! | |||||||||||

| I think what many people who are actually successful at this losing and maintaining business is that we start out thinking it is just about diet and losing some weight and figure out along the way that it is about a whole lot more than that and requires a lot of work in a lot of different areas. Being healthy and "well" is a much bigger picture than simply being height/weight proportionate. And it's always an ongoing process. | |||||||||||

| How true Red - how true!!! And I think that is where I had failed previously. While this is my first time on South Beach - this isn't my first time trying to lose weight. Did I try to change to much previously, don't know. But I used every excuse in the book to come up with a reason to NOT do something. My guess is on a personal level I was just not ready for the level of change that was required to succeed. Accepting change has just as much to do with it as being commited. ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/showthread.php?t=3895 On that note - I am back to eating almost normally again. I was forced to skip breakfast this morning (long story - I'll explain in my blog). And then slept thru lunch. Had left overs mid-day but now I'm feeling good enough to not just eat but actually go out and eat. Despite having surgery earlier today - all I want to do now is get the heck out of the house!!! | |||||||||||
