Default Anyone having trouble sleeping on this plan?

Since starting this weight loss plan, I've been doing a lot less sleeping. I've always been an 8 hour a night person. But I find I don't get nearly as much sleep now. I was just wondering if anyone else has noticed the same thing.

Or do you know something I can try to make me sleep and stay sleeping ...... instead of waking up wide awake after a few hours. Perferably something that doesn't make me groggy when I have to go to work. I work midnights and groggy is a bad thing.

I have. It seemed like it was because my tummy wasn't as full as I was used to when I went to bed. And I seemed to have more energy.

I think you get the SBD website. I did an advanced search for "sleep trouble" and #2 of 3 for Q & A talks about it. I've seen some other south beachers say they did have trouble & it went away.

You probably know other "sleep hygiene" methods to help with sleep. I've gone through alot cus I used to work nights & also switch shifts. We could talk more about it if you want.

Thanks Nancy!

You know, I didn't look at the SBD site for the answer. :speechless: I did look at another SBD site and it does seem to be a problem for some people. A few recommended a glass of warm milk before bed. But, I don't think so, unless it's chocolate milk.

Does anyone take a natural herb that helps with sleep? Like Valerian. I'm not so worried about actually going to sleep as I am about staying asleep longer after I get there.

Chamomile can help-but I'm not sure about if it helps with staying asleep. There are some new meds out that work in more natural ways with the body.

Is your room as dark as you can have it?

No, it's not. Good point. I put new blinds up a few monthes ago, but I could use curtains, also. I'll look into that. I've usually not had a problem with light though. There have been times when I have slept with the lights on or daylight coming though the windows. But, things do change.

I have a doctor's appointment this friday and I think I'll mention my problem to him. I'm sure things will work out.

Haven't had this issue on SB but I did at the beginning of Atkins (for quite some time actually). Not sure what it was..but it did go away. I know has mentioned taking something for sleeping but i can't remember what, I remember her talking about it giving her bizarre dreams.

hey i finally get to use this smiley:

:Sleepy: :Sleepy: :Sleepy:

I didn't realized what a difference the complete darkness made until one time I was staying at a hotel. They had those black-out curtains & I had the best day-time sleep I'd ever had. I didn't wake up once.

I'll get some curtains to put with the blinds.

Jenn, I think MoG mentioned that she was taking DHEA or something. I'm hoping she'll find this thread and post. If not, I'll ask her later.

Thanks everyone for your responses.

If I am wound up before bed I will have a fitful nights sleep for the entire night and wake up exhausted. So also make sure you are winding down enough before beddie-bye.

My husband is an absolute dark room guy and it makes a world of differnce to him. What about a soak in a hot tub before bed?

My guess is the time change and your going back to your night schedule have disrupted your sleep patterns. And if you are nearly hungry before bed you will not sleep sound!
