Default fruit and whole grains at the same time?

I am kinda confused, I went into phase 2 and introduced whole grains and fruit...but i gained weight over the last few weeks.

should i have only introduced one or the other?

I kind of answered this in the other sticky topic. Another board I'm on recommends one or the other. But even so, it's likely just water weight from replenishing depleted glycogen stores in the body. Also the category in the food lists is "starches" and includes starchy veggies and whole grains, and according to the other post what you introduced was bread, which is a pretty refined whole grain product compared to grains more in their whole format or to starchy veggies. This is a good article that kind of points out some of the glycemic differences between whole grains and flours from whole grains.
