| That's wonderful news! Congrats! YAY! According to the SBD site, you should now use the plan as a "healthy eating" plan and not a "weight-loss" plan. They suggest that you start on Phase 2 and take in three extra cups of 1 percent or fat-free milk daily for your calcium requirements. Folate is another nutrient that's essential during pregnancy. Eating plenty of vegetables will supply you with some, but you should also take a prenatal vitamin. You'll also need to increase your iron during pregnancy. Good sources for iron include lean red meat, spinach, and beans. | |||||||||||

Congratulations. This is the most important time for both you and baby. Think healthy when you eat, get those veggies down as they are so good for both of you. ![]()

| WOW!!!! BIG NEWS is right!!:sun: Many women these days get gestational diabetes when pregnant. It's almost epidemic. Obstetricians are constantly telling pregnant women to watch their sugar, snack throughout the day to regulate their blood sugar and to cut out processed foods. So YOU ARE ON THE RIGHT EATING PLAN!! Definately go to Phase 2/Phase 3 and do not worry about weight loss right now. But isn't it great that you are starting this pregnant healthier already? This is going to be one healthy baby!!   | ||||||||||

| Hey all- Still doing my best to eat SB friendly...doing pretty well mostly. I am reading a book on expecting mothers and i tell you if I did nothing but eat all day I'm not sure I could consume as much as it says I should. 4 servings protein, 4+ of milk, 7-10 of fruits and veggies so many that should be green leafy, or yellow, plus so many that shouldn't be, plus 6-11 grains...whole grain of course :speechless: and they expect me to only gain 1 lb /per week come the 2nd trimester....OMG I am trying to walk everyday ...that makes me feel good I haven't told my coworkers yet...I'm a little worried to! I am planning on telling them in a week or 2. Well gotta run finish getting ready for work, hope all are having a good day, and doing well with their wt. loss. I lost 10...and only put 1 back on so far (mother's day weekend I ate WAY too much) so I'm doing pretty well Thanks guys! | |||||||||||
