What is the best cereal to eat for Phase 2??

Do I go by what the box says for serving size?

How much milk can I have with my cereal?

Default Cold Cereals

OK, Steph.

On Phase 2 you can go to 2-3 cups dairy, whenever you prefer.
(Phase 1 is 2 cups dairy whenever)

General cold cereal serving guideline is 30 Grams/1 ounce/3/4 cup.
I don't know why, but the labels go all over the board with their serving sizes, so we can't go by those.

Read labels and ingredients very carefully. Formulas change. Watch for all the different terms for sugars, and avoid higher sugar content and unhealthy types sugars. Steer clear of cereals with high fructose corn syrup or made of corn.

Approved cereals have, per serving size:
3-8 Grams, at least, of fiber. Aim for the higher the better. (as at least 4
grams or above)
Less than 8 Grams sugar


Many SB'ers seem to have the 2 SBD cereals, Uncle Sam, or Kashi GoLean. I think those may be some of the most healthy. Personally, I like all those. (GoLean not as much, though)


Here's a list of cold cereals I've compiled that MAY be OK. Some are better than others. (Again, read carefully)

SBD/Kraft Cereals:
Toasted Wheats
Whole Grain Crunch

Uncle Sam

Kashi:
Good Friends
Go Lean

Post:
Shredded Wheat & Bran
Bran Buds
100% Bran Cereal

Kellogg's:
All Bran Original
All Bran Extra Fiber

General Mills Fiber One

I find Uncle Sams cereal to be extremely satisfying. It is pretty high in calories vs the South Beach brand cereals, but the taste and satisfaction level are high for me! I think the flax seeds make the fat content more satiating. Something I'm not used to in a cereal!

After going through that list, I noticed Post Shredded Wheat & Bran in the store & tried it. It's very hearty and filling and just about 100% whole grain. A little bland, but I think it's good too!
