| I am so overwhelmed by the phase 2 meal plan/recipes in the SBD book. Every day there is a different new dish. Look at Day 12, Tzatziki sauce, for heaven's sake!:Bang: Today I'm going to the bookstore and hoping they have the quick and easy recipe book. I almost feel like, hey I've learned so much already, I can just take the prinicipals I've learned (eliminate refined sugar and enriched products, pay attention to the glycemic index, watch for hydrogenated and frutcose ingredients, etc.) and apply them to mine and my families diets, and I'll be fine. I know I wish to be 10 pounds thinner, but don't you think if I just keep on eating right, the weight will come off anyway? I know I need to bring the carbs back slowly, and keep a balanced diet so why do I need to stick to phase 2 by the book? Help! I really want to rip out my phase 2 meal plan and recipe pages!!! | ||||||||||

| I don't use the meal plans in the book. That is just way too much work and I prefer to just follow the principals. I probabally would loose quicker if I followed the book but I just have to eat what I can easily fix and try to follow the south beach rules. That is one thing I liked about WW is that they did not tell you waht to eat. GRanted they allow you to eat all the junk food you have points for and you will loose in the beginning but in the end to get that last bit of stomach off you really can not do that. Just make up your own menus following the south beach rules and you will be fine. bye cindy | ||||||||||

| Dawn, I feel your pain... but your half way home so dont give up yet. Make up your own meal plans. You can see what good creations you can come up with and make it fun. Also you can go back to some of those great recipes you loved. There is no sin in having a recipe more than once. Tzatziki sauce Is it something Greek???Or maybe some of these creative folks can help you make up your own menus.

| Dawn, we even tell you on the stickies on Phase 2 NOT to follow the meal plans in Phase 2. They are actually even too much food for you at this point. The book displays the meals for Phase 2 as full-blown Phase 2. If you followed the meals (besides them being complicated to make), you'd actually end up in maintenance!! Plus, I think the reason they are so intricate is to show you just how interesting your diet can be on this plan. Follow the food template that Luv has on Phase 2. That's what we all do. So actually you are right in saying that you know the principles of the plan, now just apply them!! But be sure to transition into Phase 2 slowly. And, heck, make it easy on yourself!! Follow the template. But make sure if you eat beans/legumes that you only have a TOTAL of 1/3-1/2 cup for the entire day. It's not real clear on the template. I have the template memorized and just eat what ever I want that fits into that model and it's REAL simple! On Phase 1 it was good to follow the meal plans because it taught you what to expect from food and that the food could taste good. Now just do your thing! Basically it's a protein, fat and 2 cups of veggies (beans make up part of that total if you have em) at each meal. With an optional fruit or grain at one to two meals per day depending on where you are in Phase 2. And of course your snacks. Follow the suggested portion sizes we outlined in the stickies for Phase 1 & 2. Read the stickies and the diet is EASY PEASY!!!!!!!!!!:Read: :Read: :Read: | ||||||||||

| Oh sweetie! I read that book, put it down and I haven't even picked it up again since I started. I'd go crazy and broke if I tried to follow those meal plans and cook those recipes! :speechless: Do as Mindy suggested and follow the blank meal model I posted as a sticky. Just put your own foods in where it says protein, vegetable, etc. Make it as easy as you can on yourself. Heck, I'm still fixing plain ol' burgers, meatloaf, spaghetti and all the old standards I've always made. I just tweak them here and there and make them SB friendly. Now, I have tried some of the easy recipes and have found some that I love. But I'm not going out and buy some weird expensive spice or ingredient that I'll probably never use again! It just ain't happening. here Those meal plans in the book are just suggestions. I just follow the basic principals of the plan and ignore those fancy dishes they've concocted. Not that they're not great for some who want to experiment and are gourmets. So, please don't stress over it and don't leave. | |||||||||||
