Default SB is still working for me!

Hi.

In case anyone's browsing around, I want to let you know how great the SB way of life has been for me. I don't want to call it a diet, because it is a way of life for me.

I lost 35 pounds in a healthy way. I've maintained my weight loss for 7 months now. I can follow the SB way of eating now without too much struggle. Life is so much better. :joy:

Before, I'd struggled most of my life with endless dieting and weight gain.

And exercise is just as important as the eating. Integrating exercise into my life is a big reason for my success.

Talking Hey!

 Well hello Superstar!

Remember me!! What happended to everyone?
It's funny how much time has passed by since I have been back to the beach. I mean we keep putting stuff off and then you look up and so much time has gone by. It's been 6 months! 6 months wasted!

I started to work out again. So far this week I have gone everyday. :Whip:

Hi, Linda and Luv!

It's nice to hear from you guys again. You guys have seen my story, and as I often say, if I can do it you can do it!!:Love Doctor:

I agree about how fast time seems to fly by. I'm reminding myself of that when it's time to exercise and I'm resisting...
"How bad can it really be to do cardio for just 30 minutes in order to raise my metabolism??!!!"

30 minutes goes by so fast!

WONDERFUL! I haven't reached goal yet (18+ lbs to go) but I just figure I'll always be on Phase 2, only with benefits after reaching goal. I enjoy this WOE, and have no desire to change it, nor do I miss those foods that got me in trouble (or the big portions). Best of luck to you, and congrats!

Thank you, Janet.

You sound well on the road to maintenence too. Doesn't it feel great to have your eating under control?

I don't miss those troublesome foods much either. Usually, I'd just as soon not have them, even though I could.

It took me a LONG time to get used to the portions. I'm getting there too.

Doing alot of consistent ab exercises has actually helped me to feel satisfied sooner!

Keep up the good work!

Hi Nancy.
Did you think you'd ever give up some of those foods and not miss them? It amazes me. My boss is having a pizza luncheon meeting tomorrow. I won't have any, and I don't want any. I happened to have some leftover Beachy pizza made with ww crust and some ground turkey & onions w/mozz. cheese, so I'll be bringing my own pizza (and a salad) to the meeting. Now that's a huge thing... passing on a free lunch? Seriously... in the old days it was stuff as many pieces as I can stand... what the hell... it's free... they owe me, etc. I could pretty much justify anyting I put in my mouth back then. I'm so glad those days are over. I didn't like myself very much then. I have a whole new outlike on life now... thanks to what I've learned since I began eating the South Beach way.

It amazes me, too. I used to actually believe I NEEDED certain of those foods. It seemed like I physically HAD to have them.

Doing SB, I've realized how much a creature of habit I am. It's takes awhile, but I can change what foods appeal to me. Lots of times, if I eat certain foods enough, those foods start to be what I want.

Way to go, Janet! And in those days, I would keep wanting more pizza, etc, etc, etc., even after the luncheon was over, for the rest of the day. (Or the rest of the week!) I felt like I was out of control.

And lots of people who stay in control of their weight for life tell me it's because they eat "clean", which is what the SBD is.

If newcomers to SBD are reading this, I'm just saying that I usually prefer not to eat, say, refined flour products. But SBD says no foods are forbidden. With SBD you can enjoy any food you want (in moderation).

Yeah, that! In addition to this way of eating, I include exercise in improving how I feel about myself.

Doesn't life seem so much better now? It's such a nice change!

Oh yeah! There is a place here where leftovers from some function or other go... and I was right on it. If there was pizza, I'd kinda look around to make sure no one was looking, then grab a slice... even if I had had it at the function. It was there... and seeminglingly calling my name. That IS out of control!

Exactly. Whodathunkit?

True. If I have no other choice, I will eat something with enriched flour, but that's the only time. I have no desire to have a "nice, fresh, white crusty roll". I'd either do without, or go for the whole grain roll. My point being that I don't desire it. Bad habits are easy to develop. I allow myself those things, then there's the chance I'll start justifying allowing it more. "Justification" is a bad word. Justification is what got me in trouble in the first place. So there's definitely a fine line.

Soooo important! The great thing about exercise for me now is that I like it... it's a part of my life... like eating healthy.

Yes!!! My son is out in CA. I had lost maybe 20 lbs. when I saw him last at his wedding this past November. And I was thinkin' I looked pretty darn good, and was soooo pround that I had lost some weight before the wedding. But now, another 20 lbs later? Even between then and now I can feel the difference mentally... the possitive mindset just keeps improving. The feeling is amost one of those things you can't describe.
