| Just curious if other P3'ers notice that the seasons seem to affect overall weight levels slightly. I'm always at my lowest in the early summer and my highest in the winter. Some of that is because whenever we visit my parents I overeat on all the wrong things, but I visit them in the summer too and it doesn't have the big effect the winter does, although there are no holiday treats in the summer either! I think it's more than just being more active in the summer months. I'm really an indoor exerciser so I don't really do more in the summer than I do in the winter. Actually in the winter I do more outdoor exercise with skiing than I do in the summer months. And I don't really eat too differently at any point in the year. But I'm usually a good 6-7 lbs lighter beginning in May/June usually. My theory is simply our primitive heritage that needed to store up for the lean winters and shed a bit in the warmer months to enhance hunting and gathering. Just curious if others notice the same thing. Last edited by RedRox; 07-06-2008 at 07:16 PM. | |||||||||||

Since I've been maintaining for about 2 years, I don't weigh myself much anymore. But I have noticed I seem to weigh less during the summer months. It seems like my metabolism slows down during the winter months. I haven't checked it enough to note the details. I've had a similar theory to yours, about a hibernating mode for the cold season. I'm not an outdoor exerciser in the summer or winter, & my exercise is basically the same year-round. My main focus in Phase 3 is exercise. I keep working to do cardio and build muscle to keep my metabolism up. I'm over 50, and it sure seems like I tend to have a slow metabolism. So I'm working with what I have-what else can we do?!

| Thanks for the feedback Nancy! And yeah, the other option to the current lifestyle didn't work out too well, so this way does seem to be the way to go! FWIW, I'm 52 but I still have the metabolism advantage of being a guy! ![]() | |||||||||||

Oh, well, we women have advantages too! We men and women can all work together for our betterment! One thing great about being over 50...I don't make the same repeated mistakes I used to make. For example, I now know that if I fall off my eating or exercise plan just get back on-I see that life works much better that way. ![]()

| Well that and also perhaps being less susceptible to peer pressures and more willing to say F U to those who would seek to sabotage our new directions. | |||||||||||
