Default Third day on SB and I like it!!

So far it really isn't too different from how I used to eat but now I pay a little more attention and that is exactly what I was looking for.

I'm gonna share what I ate yesterday and maybe you guys can let me know if there are any changes that I should make. This is what I ate on a day when I ran 4 miles and also did some strength training.

Breakfast:
2 eggs (sunnyside up)
2 turkey bacon
coffee
low fat milk

Snack:
1/2 c ff cottage cheese
1 c berries (blueberries and cheeries)
1 tbsp almonds

Lunch:
Mixed greens
1.5 ounce turkey
1.5 ounce roastbeef
1.5 ounce low fat cheese
balsamic vinegrette dressing
some more cherries

Snack (I felt hungry and decided to eat a bit more than suggested...good? bad?):
1 piece laughing cow cheese
a big tbsp hummus and veggies
10 nuts

Dinner:
Sb salad with dressing
Steak and onions

Dessert:
1/2 c Ricotta cheese
1 pear
1 tbsp walnuts
6 chocolate chips

I tried the Mocha dessert the other night and I couldn't eat it. Something about the consistency just didn't sit well with me. However, yesterday when I ate it with a diced pear, I really enjoyed the ricotta. The first night...after the whole Mocha dessert fiasco, I roasted a whole can of chickpeas and ate them all.....good? Bad?

Thanks for any advice!

-Debbie

Some brands of ricotta seem more grainy then others. I didn't use to like it because of that. I've found that the cheaper store brands seem the worse.

Can you eat that much food and still lose weight? It looks like a lot of food to me, but hey, if it works for you ...... go for it! That's the way I'd want to eat. Now if I could just run for 4 miles and get my butt to lift some weights! :Bang: I feel like I'm pushing it if I walk 4 miles! lol

As for the whole can of chickpeas, I think you're suppose to start with 1/3 to 1/2 a cup.

If you truly feel physically hungry, then eat. Listen to your body. Where I get into trouble is when I eat out of boredom or stress or emotions.

About the dessert you had. I think I would have either gone with the ricotta and pear or the ricotta and walnuts/chocolate chips, but all of it. Are the chips dark chocolate?

Well, those are just a few of my observations. I'm still interested in finding out if you can eat that much and still lose weight. Please keep me posted. If so ........ then I might have to make some extra effort to start running and lifting weights.

Wow, you're on day 3 and eating fruit? I thought that was a no-no on phase One. Are you following the book? In any case, welcome! I like your sign in name, haha
Isn't that what we all want to do? LOL

What phase of the diet are you in? Sounds like you know how to eat healthy but you may be overdoing it on some of the foods. In Phase 1 you don't eat fruit and in Phase 2, you slowly re-introduce fruit into your diet. Working up to 3 times per day (at three different meals). Same for grains.

Once you get to three servings of grains and three servings of fruit, you are pretty much in maintenance and probably not losing weight anymore.

I agree with Luv2 that you may be getting too many dessert calories for those late snacks. Usually a serving would be any ONE of those items (except combining the pear with the ricotta for the glycemic slowdown of the fruit sugars in the system).

Debbie only has a few pounds to lose and she didn't want her work outs to suffer from lack of carbs so we decided in an earlier thread that she could start in phase 2.

Sorry for any confusion.

Oh yeah, forgot about that:Bang: . Makes sense. But I still think maybe too many calories for dessert. Think the pear and ricotta is a good dessert choice or the nuts, or the dark chocolate chips, but all combined is a lot of calories in one sitting. :Love Doctor:

Default It is actually a dessert...

that i found in the book....well, minus the chocolate chips. It's pretty good!
I just think that since I work out alot, I should be able to eat more and still lose. I really don't think that I eat that much but maybe I do. I burn about 450 cal everytime I work out and that is 4-5 times/week. I know though, that 450 cal is very easy to eat in 5 seconds so I still have to be careful. I wasn't very SB over the weekend. THAT is my major problem....weekends. I'm gonna have to be on the program all week for me to be able to tell if I will lose. So this week, I pledge to be "good" all week  .

Thanks for your input and please keep it coming. I definitely still need help!
