Default Upset with WW....

Even though I really do think that it is a fantastic program and I have lost all my weight with them, I'm still upset about something. In the past, I was more concerned about my foods being low in pts and didn't really look at the labels of what the foods contained. Well, that has changed and now I read everything.

The other day I was at a WW center and I stopped buying their products a long time ago, but I was reading the labels and saw that WW uses HFCS in their products!!!! That is appauling (sp?) to me. I pointed it out to my leader who is great and very motivating...and she didn't even know what HFCS was!!

I really like SB but I think my portions are too big and that I eat too many snacks. I will try to only eat SB foods but count the pts for them so I wont overeat. Sort of combine the two programs to my advantage.

Just wanted to vent and share.

Have a great weekend!

If you learn the proper serving sizes of foods and use the meal template on one of the stickies in the forums, you will begin to see that you don't have to use a point system anymore. The meal templates and portions sizes teach you balance and it's easy to memorize what you need to acheive with each meal. Makes life pretty simple!

Congratulations to you on learning what makes up healthy food vs. non-healthy! That is fantastic

Hi! Thanks for posting. I'm glad you're still with us!

I understand the basic premise behind Weight Watchers. But, it's like another poster wrote, you can use too many of your points on eating just empty junk food if you want. I don't see where they really stress healthy eating enough in their program. I did go to a couple of meetings about a year a go. The weigh ins are nerve racking!

Actually, snacks are optional on phase 2. They're really more important for the first phase of the diet to stabilize your blood sugar and get you started on your journey.

Here's my 2 cents. If you're use to counting points and you feel more comfortable doing it that way, I don't see a problem for now. I used Fitday to track my calories for awhile because I wasn't good at judging when I was full and when to stop eating. But I wouldn't want to track calories forever and I don't think you'll want to keep track of points for the rest of your life. Just guessing here though. So, at some point we need to listen to our bodies and eat accordingly.

Does that make sense?

Thanks for the post. Thats a good reminder that we all need to check labels consistantly as we need to avoid sugars, transfats, and as much artificial chemicals as possible. Our sister Atkins Board warns folks about using Atkins products all the time as they are more motivated by the all mighty dollar.
So far I have been pretty impressed with South Beach products, they seem to keep "health" in mind and I have found nothing glaringly wrong in any of the products that I have purchased. Also anything labelled low fat is often high sugar. Just goes to show ya

Default HFCSyrup

Im not defending them at all but I understand the lure of HFCSyrup. With it being so economical there's little reason not to use it.

In other words if a product even diet wasnt going to be sugar free, why not use the money saving HFCSyrup over sugar.

Well we know why but I seriously believe until product covers start posting no HFCSyrup, it is going to be the sweetner of choice. We're just at the point were were seeing No Trans Oil on package fronts.

Sad but true. HFCS is suspected in increasing triglyceride levels and promoting weight gain. Too bad something so bad for you is economical. It's almost as if the food industry says --well it's affordable but who cares if it damages your health - that's not our department:Sarcastic:
