Default question about phase one???

Hello my name is kristen and I have been on south beach diet for about 4 months and have lost about 65 lbs. But I am about to get on phase one again and have a question. On phase one you can not have whole milk,. But can you have low carb, fat free milk on phase one?

Hi, awesome job on the weight loss!
I thought that the fat free was a no no because of the added sugar content..I have been drinking 1%. I have never even heard of low carb milk!

WoW! Congrats on your weight loss! I am envious of you.

Sorry, but low carb milk is one of those items that isn't recommended on SB. They say it isn't recommended, but they don't say it isn't allowed. So, I guess it's one of those things where they leave it up to you. I think they would say that it isn't the best choice on this plan.

As you should be aware, the SBD isn't a carb counting plan. Milk has a natural occurring sugar called lactose. There is no reason to not have this as part of a healthy eating plan. Low carb dairy products remove this sugar.

I hope this helps answer your question.

Nope. Fat free is fine to have. I either use the fat free or the 1%. I think the 1% taste better for drinking, but I don't mind the fat free for everything else.

Oh that's good to know. I was searching threads trying to find that answer. Appreciate that! Don't want to mislead anyone.

:Bang: :speechless:

Please tell me this is not true!

My Kroger has 2%, 1%. 1/2%, skim and fatfree. I always figured the last 3 were different names for the same thing. No Im wondering if one as sugar.

PLEASE say nobodys putting sugar in milk (aside of flavored / chocolate).
That is, only if its the truth.

:jester: Nobody is putting sugar in the milk! I promise ...... well, as far I know they aren't. It's about the only thing they're not putting sugar in it seems.

Milk has a natural sugar called lactose and that's okay. Like tomatoes have natural sugar in them and that's okay.
