| This thread will be to share ways to save both money AND time with SB. I posted on another thread on ways I've found recently to save money while doing SB. Here are some of my ideas: Cottage cheese, yogurt, peanut butter from Trader Joe's or discount store Liquid egg substitute Sardines in mustard sauce from Big Lots (I had to re-develop a taste for them) Cooking my own beans from the dry Steel-cut oats from bulk bins Vegetables & fruits when they're on special, from low-cost places From Costco: Lean ground turkey (I cook the fat off by using the Foreman Grill) Unrefrigerated soy milk V-8 Canned tuna (and salmon for once and a while) Other "staples" like artificial sweetener What ideas you have to save money? Any and all posts would be appreciated! Last edited by nancy; 09-10-2007 at 01:43 PM. | ||||||||||

| Make your own Jello & puddings from the box...(sugar free, fat free of course) you get more than the pre-packaged cups and it's cheaper! Salad...buying bagged lettuce is easy, but it usually goes bad before I get it all ate and that's money down the drain...if you buy heads, it lasts longer in the fridge and it's cheaper! Anyone else have ideas? | |||||||||||

Buying large quantities means less time spent shopping (and less temptations). I do love to find extra time!!! Bringing your own food means less expensive eating out, convenience, and fast food. Having enough SBD-friendly veggies, lean protein, and good oil. And, less difficult decisions. Also, more time to go for a nice, relaxing walk. Canola oil is less expensive than olive oil. You could find places to use it instead of the olive oil, such as cooking. How about YOU? Even if you haven't done SBD before, don't you have an idea to save money or time? Please share your ideas!!! | ||||||||||

| To save money and time with exercise, I've been exercising at home. No gym fees, no having to buy nice-looking clothes, no having to drive somewhere. Of course, with exercise, we have to find what we enjoy & will keep doing consistently, so this idea won't work for everyone. ![]() | ||||||||||

| Frozen vegetables to save instead of fresh. Fresh vegetables as they are on sale in grocery ads. I usually make an additional trip the sales last day to stock up for the next week. Other pricier items (salmon, shrimp, etc) also as on sale to stock up. Bulk purchases like a box of frozen tilapia individually wrapped filets. Making full use of low price healthy items like eggs, beans and canned vegetables. | ||||||||||

| Drinking water helps me eat less. I used to buy bottled water because I don't like the taste of tap water. Now I'm using a Brita filter with a pitcher, and that's less expensive. I do add some flavorings to the water-unfortunately that's not cost-effective. But at least I'm drinking plenty of water. | ||||||||||
