| Why is it so hard to lose weight? Why is it so hard to stay on track?? Let's see.... Last Friday, there were 3 boxes of Girl Scout cookies brought home... they called my name for hours, then I gave in to one... then two... then three.... then I can't count that high... Ok, so I made a mistake, but as usual, I couldn't pick myself up. Saturday, did great, then the cookies again, only a couple though. Sunday, made egg salad... put it on white bread... had 3 of them throughout day with potato chips. Monday, had a taste for home made macaroni & cheese, so I made some and ate alot!!! It's now Tuesday.... I want to pick myself!!!!! I'm going try VERY hard!!!! Why is it so hard???? | |||||||||||

| WHY IS IT SO HARD!!! IT JUST SUCKS I TELL YA! I believe the choices we make when we do "cheat" really effect how easily we recover from our mistakes. I used to cheat sometimes by eating some mac & cheese here, some crackers there...popcorn...chips....and I always went down hill from there. I learned now, resist that temptaton, or only give into it a little bit...after you eat a SMALL "cheat", have some extra peanuts, pistacios, heck...even make yourself that egg sandwich...(but get some whole grain bread...PLEASE!!!) Try to be smart, even if you know your cheating!!! Have that girl scout cookie, or 2 or even 3....but then that's it!!!.. If you have to, wrap them back up, GRAY TAPE the wrapper shut! heck, GRAY TAPE THE BOX...lol...Put the box in the freezer...OUT OF SIGHT!...do what you have to do...to get them off your mind. When you fall so far off the wagon, it is quite hard to get back at it due to all the cravings your body is going to have after a splurge like that...you are going to be hungry all the time...always wanting that something else...one more thing. Even if you know your cheating, do it in moderation so you can recover faster/easier/quicker and even if you have 1 or 2 or even 3 girl scout cookies, you should follow it up w/something 'healthy' so your sugar does not skyrocket and then crash...that will later cause those "munchie" effects and cause you to eat more, again, and again...it's a nasty cycle.... So...in a nutshell...you know what you did wrong...next time, CHEAT SMART! You will recover much faster and I know you can do this again...I advise starting over...phase 1 is to get rid of all those cravings that just kicked your butt!...THAT is why it is so hard!...the more 'junk' we eat, the hungrier we are for it. It's really that simple...hope I helped!... STICK TO IT AND CHEAT SMART NEXT TIME!!! | |||||||||||

I think once we start to fall down that slippery slope, we just keep going! I treat if like an addiction, like smoking, or anything else (ive quit smoking 5X) it's better not to have it in the house, I see myself as a suger addict, i just can't have it, , , One Day At a Time, , sometimes its one hour at a time, or one minuete at a time!' | Hi! It IS HARD, especially in the beginning. We have long-term habits to deal with. For me too, it's like an addiction. I finally realized that it's best not to even "allow" those foods in the house. They do call out to me when they're there. I realized when I eat those foods uncontrolled the main thing I get is feelings of remorse, guilt, and anxiety. It's not worth it!! Or I asked my husband to hide them from me. (It needs to be a REALLY GOOD hiding place!) Even now that I'm in Phase 3, I'm really careful about allowing those foods in the house. If it's something that doesn't appeal to me much, that's safer. And I second the recommendation to CHEAT SMART if you "have" to cheat. If I cheat with SB foods, at least I don't set up that physiological craving. Hang in there!! After a long time practicing new ways, it does get a bit easier! It feels great to lose that weight that's dragging you down! Last edited by nancy; 03-07-2008 at 12:44 PM. | ||||||||||
