| I've never had 'soy' anything, so I can't help you with the 'fruit in them' issue... I do know they make calcium suppliments...can you take calcium pills/chewables/liquids?....if so, please do....it's the least you can do to avoid a calcium deficiency. Sorry I'm not of more help on this one...I don't know anyone with this issue yet...but it is an interesting and very good question.... anyone else know what she can do?.... RedRox???? What's your take on this? | |||||||||||

| supplementation was also my first thought. If you do take a calcium supplement make sure it has some magnesium and vitamins D and C to help aid absorption. Milk and yogurt aren't the only foods with calcium either. Beans, nuts, some leafy greens like kale and chard and mustard, turnip or collard greens, as well as some oily fishes like salmon and sardines all can provide naturally occurring calcium. maybe do an internet search on "calcium rich foods" and read up on some of the available info on what other kinds of foods you can use to keep your calcium intake up. | |||||||||||

| I am lactose intolerant and use 'Lactaid' brand milk...they sell it in most major grocery stores in the US. It's excellent. The 'Silk' brand soy yogurt is yummy, but it is pretty sweet...don't know if it is allowed in phase 1, because the food list says 'plain' yogurt. | ||||||||||

| Hi Minnie - I feel your pain! I, too, have an allergy to casein, the "cheese" protein in cow's milk. Everyone confuses it with a lactose intolerance, which isn't at all the same thing, is it? Lactose intolerance causes digestive pain from milk sugars. The protein allergy is truly that; an allergy. Mine causes hayfever, eczema and acne. How does it affect you? In answer to your question, I drink soy milk instead of dairy. It has comparable protein, and just as much calcium. It's possible (but difficult) to get fruit-free/sugar-free soy yogurt; most people don't want it, so few stores stock it. Cub Foods had it for awhile (Silk brand), but discontinued. Even my local health food co-op doesn't carry it. It addition to soy milk, I take calcium supplements and eat calcium-rich and calcium-fortified foods. Aim for 1200 mg a day, and remember that you can only absorb 1/3 of that at a time - so get some at every meal. Hope that helps!
