| What is the difference between his new book and the old one? Is the diet very different with the Super Charged one? | ||||||||||

| Reading reviews about the book on Amazon, it sounds like there are some new recipes in the book and it's mostly about adding exercise to the plan. I'm surprised the good doctor didn't make more about exercise in the first book. | ||||||||||

As to the changes, the food lists have very minor changes to them. The meal models are still the same. Mostly the food lists just caught up with all the interim changes along the way and have tried to get away from specific brand name recommendations. So for instance I Can't Believe It's Not Butter spray oil was removed, but in favor of a more generic, "transfat-free spray oil" line item. An occasional light beer was added to the P2 beverages list reversing his previous position on no beer at all. (I personally would have preferred he recognized the heart healthy and antioxidant properties in dark beers like stout, but it was a start! And caveat emptor, much of this has been gleaned from others who have bought and read the book which I have not. But that's my take based on chatting with others on several other SB boards. | |||||||||||

| I took a quick look through the book, and it appears that "supercharged" means adding exercise. From glancing at the cover, the initial impression is that "supercharged" means a faster or better diet system. But I don't think that's the case. | |||||||||||

| It's marketing for sure. Frankly one of the most detrimental statements on the old book was "lose 8-13 lbs in 2 weeks!" It just really sets up an unrealistic set of expectations for people. Now with "supercharged" you can lose weight even faster!! pish tosh and shame on the good Doc for encouraging this kind of thinking that the rate of loss makes some kind of actual difference. If you eat according to SB principles consistently, and not even necessarily perfectly, for a year and engage in a regular exercise program during that time, you will weigh less and be far healthier than you were when you started. This only works if you eat this way for the rest of your life. The goal IMO should be to get people to focus on days, weeks and months of consistent healthy eating and exercise, not how much you lose in the first 2 weeks or the first month. Real success happens over time, not in the first month or two. YMMV. | |||||||||||
