| I did 2 weeks of phase 1 and did not cheat at all. Then for 3 days I had a couple pieces of pumpkin pie, some bread and some carbs. Should I do phase 1 again and if so should I do it for 2 weeks again? I feel guilty about my splurge. | ||||||||||

| allilore, one way to look at it is that you have nothing to lose by starting phase one over again--oh ha ha--i guess we have WEIGHT to lose. all puns aside. You should be eating "carbs" always during South Beach Diet. Lots of foods in phase one have carbs--veggies do, legumes do. Even dairy has carbs...doesn't it? South Beach is no refined flour and sugar, but it isn't carb free. I hope your two weeks of phase one compliance gave you a great result and you have the motivation to start again. | |||||||||||

| I'd go back to P1 for a few days to help get your cravings under control and then start transitioning to P2. The first week or two of P2 isn't that much different than P1 and you need to learn to start incorporating p2 foods. Maybe part of the reason for all the splurges is you were feeling too deprived and restricted, so why go back to that level of restriction to perhaps repeat the same splurges again? | |||||||||||

| I actually didn't feel deprived. But... I decided to "treat" myself to a piece of pumpkin pie (my favorite) and then I just wanted more. And when I said I had carbs I mean crackers, and refined carbs. | ||||||||||

| oh well. live and learn... The real program is P2. That's where you learn about how the good carbs affect you and what levels work best for you. Just my opinion, but if you stay in a P1 "spin cycle" or repeat P1 every time you go off plan, you never really learn how to make the program work for you. Practice self-compassion and do whatever you think is best for you! | |||||||||||
