| So....as some of you may know, I have been trying to lose weight so my husband and I could try for our third child. Well, it appears that God thinks my 6 lbs is enough and wants me to have another child. I got a positive test tonight! It was very shocking as it took over a year to conceive my 2nd child and we weren't even "trying" this time, yet! So, since this lifestyle is so freaking awesome and I am (was) in P1, do you think that P2 would be a good place for me to start asap?? It is healthy and doesn't really limit my foods. It will keep my diet in check over the next loooong 9 months...any thoughts?? I want to stay healthy this time and try to not gain "fat" weight. I need to talk with the doc on Monday about my exercise. I have a stationary bike that I think would be awesome for me to use. I have been using it already 3x a week. Well, I am open to thoughts and suggestions!! Thanks everyone!! Angie | ||||||||||

| Congrats on the news!!!! I don't see how you can go wrong with Phase II. It's full of food that is good for you, and doesn't give you those empty carb calories. One of the most important vitamins you'll need for the baby is enough folic acid for cell division. This can be found in leafy greens and beans, which you should be getting plenty of in both Phase I and Phase II. | |||||||||||

| Congrats!! I'd discuss it with your ob/gyn. Been 15 years since we had anyone pregnant in our house but I doubt P1 will provide sufficient calories and nutrition for any stage of your pregnancy. P2 should work with any additional tweaks your doc recommends though. At it's core it's just a healthy balanced dietary program, but you might need more of some things restricted on a pure SB menu. | |||||||||||

| congrats! I agree with Redrox, calorie consumtion is vital along with all the prenatal vitimins! Check with your ob to be sure you get all you need along with the baby. | ||||||||||

| Congratulations! That is fantastic news. One thing I would do is describe the diet by what you eat rather than "The South Beach Diet". There are a lot of people out there who are ignorant of what the diet is and some of these people, including doctors, may make a blanket statement without understanding. Explain that you are eating a diet low is sugar and processed foods. You also try to eat lean meats, chicken, or fish, with lots of vegetables and you limit your whole grains and fruits to 2-3 servings a day. | ||||||||||

| I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU! I used to be on another forum with south beachers and from what I remember most doctors said sb was fine but in a phase 3 mode. Baby needs to eat, don't worry about losing just maintain and steady gain. What is the reccomended weight gain 25lbs? I have not been preggo for a long time, we were told 40lbs way back when but just eat healthy and let that baby grow! | |||||||||||

| Thanks so much for the advice everyone! I want to stick as close as possible to SB...it is so healthy and I LIKE eating like this! What could be better but veggies, whole grains and fruits all the time!! I will stick to my exercise bike and walking/jogging since I was already doing that. I will still be posting on this board!! | ||||||||||

| Congratulations... I am almost 33 weeks pregnant and I have gestational diabetes. I do a full PH2 but I up the dairy to at least 3-4 each day. So far I have gained 17lbs this pregnancy so far and my dr is very happy with that since I already had extra pounds on from my last 2 babies. Talking with your dr of course is the best though. Good Luck.... | ||||||||||

| Of course your OBY will probably have you take all your extra "mommy-to-be" vitamins!! My friend was doing the Dr. B diet when she got pregnant, and she of course gained weight, but she did yoga classes throughout her pregnancy and after the baby was born not only did the weight come off nicely but she was MORE toned before than after!!! Good luck with it all! And congrats again!!!
