Default Finished pase 1...lost only 2 lbs!!!!!

Hi all,

I just finished phase 1 yeasterday and i've only lost 2 lbs. I have also been working out at Curves 3-4 times a week. What could I have done wrong? Here is my meal plans:

Breakfast:

2 egg omelette with veggies and low fat mozza cheese
????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/south-beach-diet-forums/5415-finished-pase-1-lost-only-2-lbs.html
2 cups coffee with 1% milk and splenda

Snack:
either half cup ricotta with vanilla extract or 1 cheese string (low fat)

Lunch:

either seasoned chicken breast or about 8 shrimp
salad with veggies and 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar and oil dressing

Snack:
either half cup ricotta with vanilla extract or 1 cheese string (low fat)

Dinner;
either seasoned chicken breast or about 8 shrimp
salad with veggies and 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar and oil dressing
steamed brocolli or asparagus

I eat alot of veggies through the day.

I haven't touched ANY sugar, breads, potatoes, carrots, pasta or rice. I did hae a few drinks on Saturday night, though. Not sure if that would contribute to not losing more weight, though. I am frustrated because 2 of my friends have been on this for about 6 weeks now and both have lost about 20-30 lbs so far. I am 5'2", and need to lose about 30 lbs (I just had a baby 3 months ago and I'm not breastfeeding). I plan on doing phase 1 another week.

Please help!!

Maybe you didn't do anything "wrong" at all? Maybe that is just what your body was ready to lose at this time. Everyone is different. Remember that weight loss is neither linear, predictable, nor comparable. There are no guarantees that staying in P1 will allow you to lose more weight either.

Are chicken and shrimp the only proteins you eat? Your menu looks a little repetitive and overly restricted. Any dairy other than the milk in your coffee? (The ricotta is a protein for SB purposes) Any beans/legumes? nuts? You could try cutting back on the amount of cheeses and see if that might help, but in general it looks OK.

Yes, i mostly eat just chicken and shrimp and some fish. No more dairy except for the milk and cheese. I do eat chickpeas in my salads and some pecans in my ricotta. I know this plan looks restrictive, but I actually am enjoying these meanls very much ; I don't feel like I'm hungry.

It's just disappointing that the book says 8-13 lbs, and I only lost 2!!!

Don't believe everything you read! That was from a study of his obese, sedentary heart patients who ate like crap and didn't move much and is more a publishing/marketing decision to put that on the cover than anything else. Everyone comes into it from a different set of conditions and everyone responds differently.

As far as food choices, remember that P2 mostly just adds to the foundation of P1, so think of it not only for the shorter term, but is it something you can eat every day for the rest of your life? Plus good nutrition is built on a variety of foods and food sources, so the greater the variety within each major food category, the healthier you will be eating. If you are comfortable with it, that's fine. Not necessarily trying to change anything up on you. Just trying to point out some options!

Wink Keep on going!!

I know with me, everytime I eat riccotta cheese I seem to hold onto my weight!! If I don't have riccotta for a few days, the weight comes back off!! and usually more!!
Don't give up!!! You will do great!!!

Muscle weighs more than fat. Is it possible you've gained muscle mass from the workouts?
