Default ? on stomach probs Warning:maybe TMI :-)

OK, I know that my fiber intake has greatly increased since starting SBD. I can't seem to make it past 5 days without cheating but that's a whole other topic. My question is does anyone else have stomach probs on this diet? Since I started I am having a lot of bowel movements (esp the 1st few days) and have been SUPER gassy. I'm just wondering if this is just me or what. And will it slow down or go away after a few weeks. I can handle it but it's just annoying. On the plus side my reflux has been a lot better
Thanks!

I think any changes in your diet can have this affect - unfortunately, I'm the exact opposite, which doesn't really make sense with the amount of vege's I've been eating. I would think things will settle down soon as your body gets used to your new way of eating. As for TMI - sometimes we just have to be straightforward

It's often one or the other depending on the person, although the constipation is more typical of low carb diets, and even with the milk, beans and veggies, P1 is still on the lower end of preferred carb intake levels until you get into P2 and get more insoluble fiber back into your diet.

To the OP, are you using a lot of sweet treats with sugar alcohols (aka polyols) like sorbitol or malitol or mannitol, etc.)? Those can definitely create the kinds of symptoms you are experiencing. Also if using canned beans, make sure you rinse them well first as that helps a lot with the gassiness factor.

And yes, as your body gets used to it's new way of eating and you move into P2 and further get closer to a normal way of healthy eating, it tends to even out and get better.
