Default 50'ish and losing it!

Anyone out there near, at, or past it a few years ago 50 and want to share ideas, motivation and how were going truly make South Beach our forever WOE!.. Come join in and let's get this party started! I've been on the Beach (2nd time around) since mid April with DH. We're doing okay so far, the first fifteen are gone and now comes the work. Rather than a definite number we've set a "range" for us to work towards and be able to realistically maintain. So, don't be shy, pop on in!!

I'll be 53 in less than a month, although I was only 47 when I started my SB journey. Been maintaining for a few years now, so no longer in my active weight loss mode, but I can tell you the 50s so far are going a whole lot better than my early to mid-40s! Certainly one of the best things I've done for myself in a very long time! Best wishes to you and your DH on your own journey and know that it is all indeed worth it in the long run!

Hi RedRox! I passed 53 a couple years backThanks for the encouragement! DH & I are pretty focused, we were last time but we like to cruise and the one thing they do on cruises it literally throw food at you 24/7. We tried to stay strong, buttttttt.. The only good thing is that we didn't gain back as much as we lost. South Beach is good for us in all ways, but most of all it does make us think about what we're eating. Mindless eating is my downfall. We know that breakfast is a must and lunch doesn't have to come "supersized".

We did my one and only cruise of the hawaiian islands a few years back on norweigan. Luckily I didn't find their food all that great frankly. And there were always pretty healthy alternatives I could stick too. I wasn't 100% beachy for sure but honestly most non-healthy foods don't appeal to me much anymore and my body just doesn't handle them very well anyway. The islands were beautiful though!

I agree on the mindless eating. I'd suggest a consistent yoga practice for that, but then that's pretty much my suggestion for whatever ails ya!

Tried yoga for a winter session (12 weeks) not so bad, almost fell asleep a couple of times at the end when everything is quiet.. Have a fondness for pilates myself. I weight train twice a week, step/walk/eliptical (not all at the same time .....alternate) twice a week and throw in some pilates. Took a class on "yogalaties" it was fun, I wished the instructor offered it again, maybe this fall.
