| I had heard that there were going to be new publications of the SB Diet Book, and I'm wondering what version I have and if there's a newer one.The one I have was published in 2003 and it doesn't have any newer dates in it. I'm just looking at the phase 2 meals, and feeling overwhelmed with the more and more gourmet style cooking that is going to be required. Are there any books that have more casual/easier menus? Don't get me wrong, I have liked almost all of the main dishes in phase one, but a stumbling block for me everyday is the amount of time it is taking me to prepare them and the clean up, day in, day out. Also, purchasing all the ingredients, it adds up! And what about the frozen meals you can get at the super market? Do they have phase 2 or just phase 3 available? Anyone know? Thanks | ||||||||||

| Dawn I had the same exact reaction when I was on Phase 1 looking at Phase 2. I had followed the diet as suggested in Phase 1 and that was a LOT of work!! Mind you most of the recipes were really good but way too much prep!! And I'm a foodie! Well the good news is that YES there is a GREAT new South Beach cookbook (not detailing the diet plan, just recipes). It's called the Quick & Easy cookbook. And it really is. The food is awesome and the prep is easy. It's in a sort of yellowish jacket and right now only comes in hardcover. Also, those of us who have moved on to Phase 2 have found it is not appropriate to start phase 2 following the meal plan in the book. The reason is that there have been updates that show you need to transition slowly into Phase 2 and the book is showing meal plans at full throttle Phase 2 -- which would include 3 servings of grains and 3 servings of fruit per day. Please read the stickies about how to transition into Phase 2 under the Phase 2 forum and you'll see what I mean. I love the new cookbook. And the basic diet plan (blue book) is defnitely overdue for revisions!!! Hope this helps. Have a great weekend:Clap: | ||||||||||

Don't take as gospel but I think there are frozen meals for all phases. Maybe not Phase one though. I'm not sure. I have one in my freezer just in case, but I haven't had to use it yet. The pizzas are fairly good and add a salad with one and you've got an easy meal. I have one maybe once a month, if that often. I have very simple tastes in food. Have never been into gourmet cooking. I've found that I can take a lot of my old favorites and tweak it so that it will be SBD friendly. You just have to make substitutions, I think. I use ground turkey in the place of ground beef a lot. Like, in meatloaf and stuffed cabbage rolls, stuffed peppers with brown rice. Whole wheat pasta with turkey meatballs or you can make Swedish meatballs. I like the mock mashed potatoes made from cauliflower with some lf flavored cream cheese in it. The other day I made half a ham steak and cooked it in some cherry flavored sf syrup and it made like a glaze. With that I made a baked sweet potato and green beans. Those are simple and good and don't take a lot of preparation. Believe me, I HATE washing dishes, too! About the book, I believe everyone has the 2003 version and that's the only one there is. Could be wrong about that, but I don't think so. I would love to see a new updated one come out. And yeah, I would suggest looking into the cookbook that Mindy mentioned, "The Quick and Easy Cookbook". It has 200 recipes ready in 30 minutes or less. | |||||||||||
