Default New Years Day, November 30, 2008

Why not? After over a week hiatus from the gym I headed back today. I was listening to some song, maybe by new republic? Anyway, it said, "tonight the whole world starts anew"
or something like that. Anyway, I got to the gym, got on the treadmill and got in 4.5 miles in one hour! I alternated the incline between level 3 and 5. That is a real powerwalk for me.
I'm so happy. I wanted to share. I can relate to avoiding exercise, I can relate to finding excuses not to exercise, I can relate to being too sore, too tired, too busy, too crabby, just about everything under the sun......so when i do get in an awesome workout--I want to celebrate it.

I know I was fretting about Thanksgiving--the preparty at work and then the real holiday with family. It was as hard as I thought in some ways, and easier in some ways (my cravings are not the same as they were 20 days ago.) So I got on the scale this morning and hadn't gained (unless it is some latent thing that will show up in three days?)---and the happiness that spread through my body gave me the bounce i needed to get to the gym.

I'm very mindful that had i gained several pounds over the weekend--well, that scale does a real job on my emotions. I honestly cannot say whether I would have gone to the gym or not. When I perceive that my losing weight efforts are not working I tend to get immobilized. And then that is a self-fulfilling circle. So, LUCKILY the numbers happened to go my way this morning and I felt like my actions over the food filled last couple days were rewarded and I got to the gym and actually worked out a bit more than usual.

I am also aware that I can sometimes go out of the gate too fast---get all hyped up on a workout plan and then end up kind of getting defeated because I bit off more than I can chew. So I'm going to keep my expectations minimal...I don't have to go an hour everytime. If I do--awesome, if i don't---that's okay too.:Love3:

My volume is maxed out!! I went grocery shopping today and prepared my meals for the week. I actually made a menu of all meals and snacks for each day! That's how I have to be on this diet. If it is ready (or almost) I can grab and eat, just like I would a cookie or chips!!

I think a pre-New Year is awesome. I would love to drop 10 by New Years, but that is a crazy goal! With the support from this board, exercise and the right mind set I know I can do it.

I took my last birth control pill Friday. If any of you read in my journal you would know that I am trying to lose the weight and get healthy before I conceive my 3rd child. I want to start out ahead. So, I thought I would stop the BC (maybe lose a few just from that) and get my head in the game. It took me over a year to conceive my 2nd so I am a little scared it might take awhile. But, by the new year maybe we will have a green light. By green light I mean the scale saying 135!!

Well, here's to the New Year!!

I sure like the positive vibes coming from all of you guys on this post. I'm trying to get back in the groove after the last week. It sure helps hearing from all of you guys that are doin it!! Nice job! Keep posting all of your successes it helps!
