Default Leaving Weight Watchers

Hi! I'm new and just beginning South Beach today. I've had success in the past with W. Watchers but the weight came back. I've also rejoined time and time again but without success. I have 60 pounds to lose but hope to focus on 10 lbs at a time. I'm just wondering if anyone else has left W.Watchers and found this to be easier and more satisfying. I've had a good day and hope to have many more.

Hi,

I also just left Weight Watchers after two 12 week sessions and only losing 8lbs. I think that there are too many carbs, and that the point system does not limit sugars etc. so even if you are within your point range, you may not lose weight because of the carbs. Some people do well with it, I did not. Also, I was always craving something to eat - unlike SBD where I'm never really hungary.

Andi

MUCH easier!...I was on w. watchers for 10 months....lost 50 lbs. (then got pregnant) I have been on the SBD for 10 months and lost 100 lbs.! They both work, but the SBD is TONS faster at seeing results and also keeping the cravings down...I have not been hungry once since starting the SBD & it seemed like I was always hungry on W.W...(like Andi stated)..oh yeah...don't forget the fact that you have to PAY w.watchers...so if your looking at cost effectiveness?....GO SBD! I must say, the support system at W.W. is the major reason I lost the 50 lbs., not so much what they told me to eat, but how they made me feel when I went in there...it feels good to brag about losing 1 lb or even 1/2 lb and have people cheer you on for loosing it! My suggestion to anyone who can afford it is to still go to w.watchers meetings to weigh in and get support, but eat the SBD meal plan! Now that will get results...for sure!

Hey Tiny your story is incredible. Could you maybe post one of your daily menus so I could get an idea of what is good and acceptable to eat. I read the original SouthBeach and Dr. A doesn't really talk much about Phase 2 except to say to add the prohibited foods back in slowly. I didn't see anything in the book which said how much starches, milks, etc. to have each day? Did I miss it somewhere?

Default dear edistogrl

It is a very interesting question you ask. I have done weight watchers quite a few times in the past. Each time it seemed like so much more work to get to goal. I think I got fooled into thinking I could cheat the system and gave myself too many excuses to cheat. So even if I was within my points for the day--i wasn't eating within healthy guidelines or consistently eating the type of vegetables i should have. i remember eating carrots like they were some kind of panacea for life. What i'm saying is, I would actively search out what foods i could really eat a ton of on their program (carrots/popcorn).

Since I've been on South Beach---my way of eating looks so much different than it was on Weight Watchers. Instead of eating cup after cup of cabbage soup because i was so hungry--I'm eating high density protein items. After having 12 almonds or a half cup of edamame, I'm satisfied and can focus on something else!

Results have been dramatic for me. I believe my results with South Beach will slow as I progress. But heck, I'm more motivated to stick with the program because of losing an initial 7 pounds.

There are so many positive things I take from weight watchers. One huge component is what tiny t touched on---the group support. Another skill I learned from weight watchers was to weigh portions--that is an eye opener.

If i could afford to go to weight watcher meetings--i would. I miss the meetings and the warm enthusiasm. They are a positive bunch. It is a blast to see people shed extra weight.

Good luck on your journey. I hope you find lots of positive changes with South Beach. i did.
