I started this thread 3 years ago. I'm 38 pounds down & keeping it off.

I still use SBD as my basic, blueprint eating plan. Don't splurge too much on the high glycemic stuff, unless it's something I really want to try. And I remember the three bite rule, in that I really pay attention to and appreciate each bite & then I'm satisfied with a small portion. I really appreciate nutritious foods more. I use fruit as a treat.

Still, exercise is key for me to maintain my weight. Exercise is a major part of my life.

Believe me, it took time for me to get into my present mindset. When I used to hear other people say things like the above statements, I was very skeptical.

My weight came off very slowly. If it's like that for you, it's OK. Every day you're teaching yourself new ways of living that will help you enjoy your life so much more.

Yay you! I think when we lose weight slowly it gives us time to learn what's important along the way and to realize that the actual rate of the loss is pretty unimportant in the long run if we can figure out how to "eat right and exercise more" along the way in ways that are sustainable for us as individuals. I'm actually not sure I would have stayed with it though if my own loss was that slow at first, although it certainly was towards the end, but I had already made my peace with the whole "scale thing" by that point and I knew it was just a matter of time and continuing to make good choices and enjoying life along the way in the meantime!

Happy Beachiversary too!

Thanks, Red! I think I finally stuck with it because I was just fed up with feeling out of control and yo-yo'ing.

And I'm like you-when I come back from a vacation, I'm looking forward to getting back to my SBL.

Congrats to you, too for your long-term maintenance. I've followed and learned from your posts along the way. (I'm laurelwood on TOB.)
